A Report On The Remote Interpreting Practice For The Online MBA Class

In recent years,with the warming of the friendship between China and the Philippines,the exchanges between two countries in politics,economy,education,culture,and social undertakings have developed rapidly,especially the China’s “Belt and Road” Summit Forum and the signing of the exchange of higher education by the Chinese and Philippine governments.After the agreement,the number of Chinese students studying in the Philippines has increased dramatically.The author served as an interpreter for the MBA class during this visit and was responsible for the online class interpreting of the professors and the remote daily communication between the professors and the students.The content involved mathematics,management,logistics,statistics and other professional knowledge.This report is based on the detailed analysis and summary of this practice.First,the report analyzes the problems in the interpreting process,including misinterpreting,missing of content,disfluency,inconsistent use of personal pronouns.Second,the report analyzes the causes of these problems,such as insufficient preparation of business management background knowledge,professors’ accent,and network instability.Also,the author finds that the reasons for these problems are related to the psychology and ability of the interpreter.In this report,different interpreting strategies such as communicating with the speaker in advance,omission,summarization,restructuring,explanation are explained,and those interpreting strategies can improve the interpreting effect.Finally,the report reflects and summarizes this interpreting practice,which points out the specific direction for the author in the future interpreting and provides an effective reference for future interpreting practice.
