| Due to the outbreak of new coronavirus(Covid-19)in 2020,many countries have suspended offline teaching and switched to online teaching.In this context,a group of Chinese teachers who applied for a Master in Education in the Philippines chose to accept online lectures in China.However,due to language barriers,they chose the author to provide consecutive interpretation services for this online lecture.In order to ensure the smoothness of the class,the author has provided bidirectional translation between English and Chinese for this online class interpreting.This report is based on the practical interpreting on remote consecutive interpreting,analyzing the problems existing in the interpretation.Therefore,we could derive something useful from the experience.The report is made up of four parts,namely introduction to the task,task description,case analysis and conclusion.Case analysis,as the main part of the thesis,is focused on the challenges as well as the interpreting strategies adopted by the author.The challenges encountered by the author contain speaker’s accent,unfamiliar terms,unexpected information in Q&A session and emergencies in class.Next,in order to improve the quality of interpretation,the author analyzes the relevant interpreting strategies,such as making confirmations,addition,omission and reconstruction in this interpretation by making examples.The significance of this report is that the detailed analysis of the interpreting practice lays a solid foundation for the author,providing the author with specific and instructive directions and providing experience and knowledge for the benefit of the interpretation community. |
