In the early Qing Dynasty,there were twelve stories in the Doupeng Xianhua,a imitated Huaben story,all of which were written with sarcasm.It ridiculed the rulers of dissolute brutal tyrant,the government officials of corruption and inefficiency,ravaging the people,the adherent literatis of disloyalty,seeking fame and gain,the local nobility of squeezing the common people and pursuing profit only,the literary hacks of flattery,Buddhism’s hidden dirt,Taoist greed for profit and so on,showing the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the turbulent,dark and chaotic social reality.Doupeng Xianhua uses a variety of excellent satirical techniques,such as adapting the past and satirize the present,comparing and contrast,metaphorical symbols,the technique of nicknames,A pun on words,word grouping and word splitting,dialect proverb.It is a combination of satirical language,harsh rebuke and gentle satire,portraying all kinds of ugliness of the survivors of the old dynasty under the regime change,and full of the author’s regret and lament for the declining trend of the world and the degeneration of human beings.Doupeng Xianhua reflects on traditional history,society and life with reverse thinking,which is embodied in "idle talk".It is not only an objective description without commendation or disparaging,but also an allusion to the reality in the form of comedy,humor and absurdity,which shows the social tragedy of disorder,flimsiness of the world and moral bankruptcy at the time when the Ming and Qing Dynasties were changing.In the long history of satirical literature,Doupeng Xianhua has played an important role in connecting the preceding with the following with its superb satirical art.
