| This paper selects the famous English picture books Mr.Men and Little Miss as language materials for translation practice,monitors the translation process and analyzes the translated text under the guidance of multimodality theory.It pays close attention to the language processing methods in picture books,and the author looks forward to making translation works more in line with children’s readers and improving the reading experience of picture books.In the past decade,the interlingual translation of picture books has attracted more and more attention in China.Picture books combine the reading habits and cognitive level of children’s readers,and take into account factors such as “the verbal,visual and aural”.However,at present,the Chinese translation of children’s picture books seems to only pay attention to the language,and there are still deficiencies in the attention to other aspects.Children’s picture books should not only be fluent in language,but also require vivid expression and be performed easily.Their translation should also have the same language quality,so as to obtain better experience in the process of reading.Based on the multimodality theory,this paper deals with the typography(font,font size,spatial arrangement,punctuation)of dialogue,action and onomatopoeia in the selected picture books.The focus and difficulty of their translation practice are how to properly change the typography.Therefore,the author of this paper has made many useful attempts to realize the appropriate expression of the three modes of “the verbal,visual and aural”.The translation is also shared with some young readers and parents for trial reading,and the author constantly revises the translation according to their feedback to make children readers begin to like these picture books,and enjoy reading.In the whole process of translation task,the author has always been guided by multimodality theory.On the basis of language translation,according to the reading habits and cognitive abilities of the target readers,the author changes the typography,tries to check the quality of the translation from the standpoint of young readers,and summarizes several methods to highlight the typography,which provides a reference for similar translation practices. |
