A Report On The Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of Harvard University Open Course:Viruses ＆ How To Beat Them:Cells,Immunity,Vaccines

At present,the epidemic has fluctuated and the Corona-virus has mutated frequently.In the short term,the New Corona-virus remains a major threat to human survival,and it is important to understand more about the mechanisms of virus transmission and the role of the human immune system.In this mock interpretation exercise,the content of the Harvard University open course“Viruses ＆ How to Beat Them: Cells,Immunity,Vaccines”is used as the source material,and conducted in the form of English-Chinese consecutive interpretation.Guided by Gile’s Effort Model,the interpreter analyses the problems arising in the interpretation practice.The interpreter divides the main problems into two aspects: on the one hand,the influence of subjective factors of the interpreter,mainly manifested as the influence of the interpreter’s psychological quality and the interpreter’s encyclopedic knowledge on the quality of interpretation,on the other hand,the influence of objective factors,mainly manifested as the influence of the speaker’s speed of speech and accent,the unexpected situation at the interpretation scene and the laying of support materials.Thus,we explore the ways for interpreters to effectively solve the above problems and their positive effects,and compose this practice report with a view to helping interpreters improve their professionalism in order to enhance the translation quality of their texts.
