At the beginning of 2020,the sudden epidemic broke the plan of sending Mandarin teachers abroad and brought great challenges to the normal development of Mandarin courses in Confucius Institutes around the world.A large number of Confucius Institutes chose to open online Mandarin lessons.For language teaching,classroom interaction is the key factor to determine the teaching quality,and an important problem of online Mandarin classroom is the lack of classroom teaching interaction under the separation of time and space between teachers and students.Based on this background,this paper selects nine Mandarin lessons in two primary school classes taught by the author in the project of online courses of Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools in the spring semester of2021 as the research object,and uses the evaluation scale,SPSSAU statistical analysis tool and improved Flanders interaction analysis system to evaluate and investigate the online classroom interaction in the nine lessons,which is problem-oriented,under the guidance of relevant theories,explore the strategies of online Mandarin teaching classroom interaction.This study consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction.Firstly,this section expounds the research origin,research background and research significance of this paper;secondly,it combs and summarizes the relevant research on Mandarin teaching in Scotland,online Mandarin teaching and Mandarin teaching interaction,then expounds the research significance and theoretical basis of this research,and finally expounds the research purpose and research methods.The second part expounds the general situation of Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools and the development of online courses.Firstly,it introduces the soil of the online courses of Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools: the educational environment in Scotland,Scotland National Centre for Languages and the Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools;secondly,it explains the development background,project content,course content and teaching methods of this online course project.The third part describes the research design and implementation methods of this paper.Firstly,it clarifies the research object of this study,then introduces the evaluation scale,SPSSAU and other evaluation and analysis tools used in the study,and finally explains the research ideas and data sorting methods.The fourth part is the analysis and discussion of the sorted data.This section gives a basic description of the Mandarin classroom of the project.The online Mandarin interaction was analyzed through the evaluation results of the dosage table,the analysis results of SPSSAU data,the analysis results of the improved Flanders interactive analysis system and the feedback of other online Mandarin teachers in the project,from the dimensions of classroom interaction preparation,classroom interaction subject,classroom interaction process,media use and classroom interaction effect.The fifth part derives the interactive strategies of online Mandarin teaching based on the above analysis.The main contents are as follows: first,understand the characteristics of students and carry out targeted online teaching interaction design;second,clarify teachers’ instructions and strengthen teachers’ interactive language control;third,enrich interaction types and forms of online Mandarin teaching,and improve the systematicness and hierarchy of interaction design;fourth,make full use of software and hardware equipment and strengthen cooperative teaching with local teachers.The research shows that by clarifying the reasons behind the classroom interaction,we can find a powerful strategy to strengthen the interaction of online Mandarin teaching.
