Knowledge is power.Knowledge is an indispensable resource for both individuals and organizations, which can promote the growth of individuals, the growth of organizations and the advancement of society.Social informatization and economic globalization promote knowledge to strive for more competitive advantages and create greater intrinsic value for enterprises. If enterprises hope to find new growth points and get better development opportunities in the competitive environment, they must continuously use the existing knowledge to obtain more resources.Knowledge sharing behavior,as a way to promote knowledge dissemination and flow, plays a key role in the process of knowledge management. How to promote effective and sufficient communication among employees and ensure the free flow of knowledge resources within an organization is an instant question needed to be resolved during the practice of knowledge management. From the perspective of social comparison, this paper considers the influence of envy on knowledge sharing of those employees who are dominant in the workplace.Because the employees who are envied often have unique knowledge and experience,it is of practical significance to explore whether they will make more knowledge sharing behaviors to promote the improvement of knowledge management process.Based on the affective event theory, this study introduced two mediating variables, negative emotion and job engagement,to explain a series of emotional and behavioral changes after employees perceive being envied. In this study,MBA students and their colleagues were sampled by questionnaire survey,377 data were analyzed by SPSS and Mplus, and the following three conclusions were drawn: first, there was a negative effect between being envied and knowledge sharing, that is,when employees perceived being envied, knowledge sharing behavior would decrease;Second, negative emotions play an intermediary role between being envied and knowledge sharing, that is,being envied will increase employees’ negative emotions such as anxiety and fear, and this negative emotion will lead to the reduction of employees’ knowledge sharing;Third, negative emotions and job involvement play a chain mediating role between being envied and knowledge sharing.Specifically, after being envied, the increase of negative emotions will lead to the reduction of employees’ work involvement, and then the reduction of knowledge sharing. The research results of this paper enrich and expand the empirical study on the connection between being envied and knowledge sharing behavior, explore the negative impact of being envied on employees and the negative effect of social comparison on employees’ knowledge sharing in the workplace, and provide some reference for human resource management and knowledge management of enterprises.
