A Report On The E-C Translation Of Climate Change,Conflict And Fragility （Chapter 1-2）

The translation practice materials for this report are from the Climate Change,Conflict and Fragility,published by the Overseas Development Institute.The translator chooses the first two chapters as the translation texts.The chosen translation practice materials mainly discuss the relationship between climate change and conflict,and believe that there is a certain causal relationship between climate change and conflict,but the degree of this relationship has not been fully discussed.In addition,Climate Change,Conflict and Fragility puts forward some feasible suggestions with a view to conflict prevention and peace building and jointly building a home of green and sustainable development.The first part of this report is an overview of the translation task,including the characteristics,background and literature review of the translation tasks.The second part is the descriptions of the translation process,including how to prepare before translation,how to arrange the translation plan,how to understand the source text during the translation process,and post-translation proofreading by the translator and others.The third part is the analysis of translation cases,which is the core of this report,involving variational translation in lexis,syntax,and discourse,including such four adaptation techniques as adding,deleting,editing and altering.The fourth part is the summary of the translation practice.Through the translation of the source text and the analysis of cases,the translator’s practical reflection is drawn so as to to provide some reference for translation practice reports involving the variational translation theory.
