This thesis is a report on an English-Chinese translation. The source text is Living Your Life with Cancer through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, coauthored by Anne Johnson,Claire Delduca and Reg Morris. The authors of the book are clinical psychologist consultants engaged in cancer palliative treatment for adults and children. The book was published in 2021,and there has been no Chinese translation so far. This is one of the reasons why the translator chose this work as the source text for practice. The book introduces the specific content and practicability of acceptance and commitment therapy from multiple perspectives. It has great value in translation. There are three levels of translation difficulties in the process of translation: lexical level, syntactic level and textual level. In terms of lexical level, the translator adopts the methods of extension, addition, annotation and conversion of part of speech to make the translation more smooth; At the syntactic level, the translator uses division, combination and readjustment of word order to solve the translation problems of complex sentences and colloquial expressions; At the textual level, the translator should consider the language characteristics and grammatical structure because the original text belongs to the professional book of psychological therapy. The translator uses ellipsis to avoid repetition and make the language and structure of the article more concise. The translator uses reference to make the readers receive more comprehensive information and make the text more clear and coherent. Finally, the translator analyzes the translation experience, existing problems and shortcomings. This translation practice enables the translator to have a further understanding of acceptance and commitment therapy and provides readers with a way to understand how to use acceptance and commitment therapy to get rid of diseases.Based on the translation practice, the corresponding translation methods and strategies are analysed in this report, which is hoped to provide some reference for translators.
