| This is an English-Chinese translation report.The source text is Love is the Strongest Medicine: Notes from a Cancer Doctor on Connection,Creativity,and Compassion(chapters 10-15),written by Dr.Steven Eisenberg.The book discusses how negative emotions can be overcome through love.Before the translation practice,the group members selected the translated text,assigned the chapters to be translated by each of them,shared the glossary,and later the members proofread each other’s translation to check whether it was accurate and smooth.Preparations before the translation is important,such as reading parallel texts and choosing medical dictionaries,because it determines the quality of the translation.This report mainly analyzed the lexical level and the syntactic level,combined with specific cases to analyze the translation methods applicable to source text.Many translation methods were used to analyze the different difficulties.For example,annotation is used to analyze medical terms and literal translation is used to analyze song titles and taboos.Restructuring is used to solve the difficulty of long and complex sentences and free translation is used to solve the difficulty of short sentences.These translation methods ensured that the translation conformed to the Chinese expression habits.This book was chosen as the source text because cancer has now become a major enemy that endangers human life.And it not only focuses on the cancer,but also pays attention to the psychological factors of patients.It also aims to help cancer patients fight cancer scientifically.It is hoped that this translation can help cancer patients face up to cancer and beat it,the family members of patients can understand cancer and inspire patients with love.It is also hoped that society can help cancer patients so that they can get better treatment. |
