With the deepening and development of basic education reform,high-quality and innovative teachers play an important role in education. The number of female high school teachers in the teaching staff is increasing year by year, showing a trend of occupying "half a river".Meanwhile, the life development and career development of female teachers are interwoven, and paying attention to the career development of female teachers plays an important role in the balanced development of male and female high school teachers.Based on the career development theory of teachers, this study conducted a survey and interview with female teachers from five high schools in a county in central Jiangsu province from November 2019 to January 2020.Based on the career development theory of teachers, this study revealed the current situation and existing problems of the career development of female teachers in high schools and analyzed the factors affecting the career development of female teachers. In the specific analysis, the statistical analysis of data, such as frequency analysis, cross analysis and analysis of variance, shows that :(1)the professional titles and positions of female teachers in senior high school are concentrated in the middle and lower levels of professional titles and low-level positions, and the career development of female teachers is staged, with "peaks" and "troughs",and the career development fluctuates greatly. The professional development level of female teachers generally lags behind that of male teachers, lacking long-term career planning and insufficient time investment in work.Meanwhile, female teachers in high schools have obvious conflicts of dual roles, and they lack the confidence to promote their career development.(2)through interviews, the influencing factors for the career development of female teachers in high schools were explored : gender culture penetrated into the field of education, and gender stereotypes, gender prejudice, the family concept of "the man is the principal outside and the woman is the principal inside",self-role positioning and subject awarenessbecame invisible factors hindering and restricting the career development of female teachers. The income satisfaction of high school teachers in the school environment, the opportunity to participate in democratic management, the evaluation system for teachers, teaching research and humanistic management affect the career development of female high school teachers.Due to the influence of gender culture, female teachers in high schools also have some important factors affecting their career development, such as lack of motivation and confidence, weak sense of time, and special physiological characteristics.
