The Yi people are mainly distributed in the southwest of China.Influenced by many factors such as history and geography,they have formed many branches over the years.Among the similarities of Yi clothing culture of each branch,the geometric patterns of Yi clothing are widely used,and different branches have formed different regional characteristics in the development process,so the geometric patterns of Yi clothing are diverse and rich in cultural value.As an ethnic cultural symbol,the composition,materials,colors,craftsmanship and collocation of ethnic patterns all reflect the aesthetics of the ethnic group.In the clothing culture of the Yi people,abstract techniques are often used to summarize the perception and relationship of all things in the world through simple lines.Therefore,compared with other patterns,the geometric patterns in Yi costumes are simpler in form and have a high degree of adaptability and subjective adjustability.The density and density of patterns can be adjusted according to the pattern of different parts,and different types of geometric patterns can be selected for decorate.The application of Yi clothing geometric patterns in modern clothing design can convey the aesthetic value of ethnic culture,make modern and contemporary clothing design have richer cultural connotations,and deeply integrate ethnic traditional culture with modern civilization.Realize the inheritance and innovative development of Chinese excellent ethnic culture,and at the same time establish ethnic cultural self-confidence,and provide reference for the implantation of Yi costume culture in modern and contemporary costume design.This article aims to carry out cultural innovation on the basis of continuation of ethnic culture and improve the compatibility of Yi clothing geometric patterns and modern and contemporary clothing design,and discusses the innovative application of Yi clothing geometric patterns in modern and contemporary clothing design.Mainly reflected in the following aspects:First,the type,composition,combination and connotation of the traditional geometric patterns of the Yi ethnic group are analyzed,and the most characteristic tusi patterns,octagonal patterns,back-shaped patterns and rhombus patterns in the geometric patterns of Yi ethnic group clothing are combined,and the geometric patterns of the Yi ethnic group are formed by themselves.Secondary design innovation is carried out in terms of form and combination with patterns.Second,in terms of clothing modeling,the pattern breaks the traditional plane presentation in the expression of clothing,and uses the geometric patterns of Yi clothing in three-dimensional relief to give the clothing patterns a sense of volume in space.Thirdly,in fabric reconstruction,we take inspiration from origami to hollow out the geometric patterns of Yi costumes to reflect the layering of fabrics.Fourth,in terms of pattern style,the geometric pattern elements of Yi costumes are extracted and combined with cyberpunk style colors and glitch art creation elements to realize the transformation of patterns from ethnic style to sci-fi style.Fifth,in terms of clothing structure,the detachable design method is used to combine the composition of geometric patterns with the structure of clothing joints,so that the wearer can disassemble and match the clothing parts according to their own preferences.
