| As a traditional technique in Chinese textiles,the jacquard weaving technique has been famous worldwide since ancient times when the Silk Road was active.The technique involves the use of different colored threads to create raised and lowered patterns that are achieved through the design of the weave.Jacquard fabrics are exquisitely delicate,boast high commercial and artistic value.With the advancement of technology,people’s understanding of textile products has gradually shifted from comfort and wearability to customization,functionality and intelligence.Smart textiles,as a new product,not only have the basic functions of traditional textiles but also have the capability to adjust automatically,which is increasingly popular and sought-after.This paper combines the jacquard weaving technique with two types of smart color-changing materials,namely thermal color-changing materials and PMMA side-emitting optical fibers,to develop and study the performance of jacquard fabrics.Different types of smart color-changing jacquard fabrics were designed and developed by changing the process parameters,and the characteristics of the fabrics were analyzed to determine their application areas,as follows:(1)By using thermal color-changing yarn as the weft yarn,three types of thermal color-changing jacquard fabrics were designed and developed by changing the process parameters: the single-layer "Falling Leaves" pattern,the double-layer "L’Oreal" pattern,and the triple-layer "Butterfly Shadow" pattern.The study analyzed the color characteristics,thermal color-changing behavior,moisture permeability,air permeability,pill resistance,and mechanical performance of the fabrics,exploring the relationship between fabric density,floating length of the weft yarn,number of weft layers,and various performances.Through various performance evaluations,it was determined that thermal color-changing jacquard fabrics could be widely used in the fields of curtains,sofas,bedding,and decoration,etc.(2)Two types of optical fiber color-changing jacquard fabrics were designed and developed by changing the process parameters using PMMA side-emitting optical fibers as the weft yarn: the single-layer "Houndstooth" pattern and the double-layer "En Yun Fu Jin" pattern.The optical fiber fabric can achieve the luminescence color-changing effect after being connected to the light source through a coupling device.While observing the luminescence effect of the optical fiber fabric,it was found that the weft insertion would cause damage to the surface morphology of the optical fiber,affecting its luminescence effect and mechanical performance.Several measures were proposed to avoid the damage caused by weft insertion in optical fiber weaving.The study of the optical fiber color-changing jacquard fabrics included the analysis of luminescence brightness,moisture permeability,air permeability,bending stiffness,and mechanical properties.It was determined that the optical fiber color-changing jacquard fabrics could be applied in the fields of stage effects,interior decoration,textile clothing,accessories,and so on.The above research shows that the overall compatibility between smart color-changing materials and the jacquard weaving technique is high,and the introduction of smart color-changing materials can increase the color-changing performance of jacquard fabrics and expand the application fields of products. |
