In 2016,the tie-dye of Bai ethnic group in Yunnan was among the first batch to be selected as one of China’s intangible cultural heritage.Its colors,patterns and cultural deposits all show unique charm.With the advent of the modern information age,it has attracted more and more attention.However,there are still some problems,such as aging of employees,lack of professionals,and limitations of the product itself.This paper,starting from the development of Dali Bai tie-dye cultural heritage,will study how to apply Dali Bai tie-dye culture into contemporary clothing as much as possible in the protection and development,Thus,it develops in the direction of cultural industry.Firstly,this study uses the literature research method to study the historical development,process characteristics and cultural deposits of Dali Bai tie-dye,and combines the characteristics of functional style clothing to explore the potential relationship between Dali Bai tie-dye and functional style clothing.Secondly,Field investigation was carried out to investigate the current situation of Bai tie-dye practitioners in Dali City,and targeted personnel were found for interview and learning.and investigate the local tie-dye market to explore the problems existing in the market and products.Finally,through the questionnaire survey,This paper analyzes the development trend of the public’s demand for Dali Bai tie-dye and discusses the contemporary fashion design that can not only meet the public’s demand but also inherit the cultural heritage of Dali Bai tie-dye is provided.Combining the tie-dye culture of Dali Bai ethnic group with the fashion trend and characteristics of contemporary clothing,this study takes the fashion design of a series of clothes,"Fanci Shan" as an example to analyze the transformation between tradition and modern,manual and machine,protection and development.To protect the unique cultural heritage of Dali Bai tie-dye,and expand the expression form and creation concept,so as to transform the traditional tie-dye from the category of arts and crafts to contemporary art creation.
