| In recent years, the development of China’s broiler breeding industry has made great progress and production has continued to increase, greatly satisfying people’s diverse needs for quality meat. However, along with the development of the industry, there are also problems of environmental pollution and factor use failure. In the current context of increasingly pressing resource and environmental constraints, the green transformation of the broiler farming industry is imminent.Green total factor productivity is an important indicator to measure the level of green productivity. The study of green total factor productivity can help to clarify the level of green development of broiler farming and identify its problems,so as to provide reference for decision making to enhance the level of green development of broiler farming.Based on the perspective of green development and regional coordinated development, this paper takes broiler as the research object and measures and studies the green total factor productivity of broiler farming in China in terms of provinces while considering the non-desired output, and analyses its spatial and temporal characteristics and influencing factors.Firstly, the dynamic development of Chinese broiler farming production is studied in four aspects: scale and output changes, spatial and temporal changes in production layout,cost-benefit analysis of broiler farming, and waste emissions from broiler farming;then the super-efficient SBM model,ML index and Moran’s I index, which include non-expected output, are used to The green total factor productivity of broiler farming in China is measured and analyzed in terms of spatial and temporal characteristics, and the changes in the growth of green total factor productivity of broiler farming in China are analyzed in terms of three aspects: temporal evolution differences, spatial regional differences and spatial correlation evolution based on a dynamic perspective;then the internal and external factors affecting the level of green total factor productivity of broiler farming are analyzed in a regression using a panel Tobit model. The study found that:(1)the development of large-scale broiler farming in China has led to an increase in the scale of production as well as an increase in the amount of pollutants produced, and the contradiction between the scale of industrial development and the environmental carrying capacity of broiler farming in some regions has emerged. The layout of broiler production has obvious geographical clustering characteristics, showing "east-west and north-south movement".The cost of broiler farming is under pressure to rise, but the income fluctuates and changes unstably.Different farming scales have different advantages in terms of cost or income, and on the whole, broiler farming is advocated to develop in medium and large scale.(2)On the whole, the level of green total factor productivity of broiler farming in China has been improved from the dual influence of green technological progress and green technical efficiency, and the improvement of technical efficiency is more prominent than the role of technological progress. The different status of the main body of technological innovation causes different sources of decline in the green total factor productivity index of broiler farming of different scales. In terms of spatial distribution characteristics, the growth of green total factor productivity in broiler farming is higher in the northern provinces than in the south, and the difference mainly comes from the different degrees of efficiency improvement. From the evolution of spatial correlation, the unsustainable growth of green total factor productivity in broiler farming leads to more scattered growth and weaker spatial aggregation.(3)Material-to-meat ratio, disease risk and labor cost all have significant negative effects on the level of green total factor productivity in large-scale broiler farming.Environmental regulations inhibit the increase of green total factor productivity in broiler farming, and the inhibitory effect is greater for medium-scale broiler farming.Good transport conditions facilitate the transportation and marketing of raw materials and products for broiler production, resulting in significant cost savings, and also facilitate the speed of technology diffusion, which positively contributes to the level of green total factor productivity in broiler farming. Thanks to the development of modern transport conditions, the proportion of maize production has little constraining effect on the layout of broiler farming,so its positive effect on the green total factor productivity of broiler farming is not significant. The relationship between economic development and environmental protection has not been coordinated during the large-scale development of the industry, and the consumer market potential and regional production structure have a negative impact on the green total factor productivity of broiler farming. Finally, expanding the scale of farming is conducive to increasing the level of green total factor productivity in broiler farming.Based on the findings of the study, the following targeted recommendations are made to improve the level of green total factor productivity in broiler farming:(1)Strengthen early warning and prevention and control of epidemic and disease risk events, and strengthen production quality management to ensure food safety.(2)Promote scientific and technological progress to support the broiler farming industry in achieving cost savings and efficiency gains and green transformation.(3)Implement regional coordinated development strategies for broiler farming and rational planning of the industrial production layout.(4)To further implement the green development strategy and innovate the working mechanism of environmental supervision. |
