Clinical Observation On The Effect Of Acupuncture Combined With Wheat Grain Moxibustion In Treating Peripheral Facial Paralysis During Recovery Period

Objective: Through a randomized controlled study,the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with wheat moxibustion in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis during the recovery period was observed to provide a preferred acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of this disease.Methods: 60 patients with recovering from peripheral facial paralysis were randomized into an observation group(30 cases,1 case drop out)and a control group(30 cases,no case drop out).59 cases were eventually input into statistical analysis.Patients in the observation group were given acupuncture at Yangbai,Quanliao,Jiache,Dicang,Yifeng and Hegu points,wind cold syndrome plus fengchi,Lieque,qi and blood deficiency syndrome plus Zusanli,Qihai,then,Shendao,Lingtai and Zhiyang were moxibusted with wheat grain,acupuncture were left 20 min each time,once a day,6 times a week,with one-day interval,wheat moxibustion were given once every other day,3 times a week,while the control group was given routine acupuncture,acupuncture and specific operations were the same as the observation group.2 weeks were as one course,the treatment lasting for 2 courses,H-B facial nerve grading system,FDI,clinical effect and treatment days of cured patients between two groups before/after treatment were input into statistical analysis.Results: 1.There were very statistical differences in the H-B facial nerve grading system and FDI between two groups after treatment compared to that before the treatment(P<0.01),both groups had good effects;2.There were statistical differences in the H-B facial nerve grading system and FDI between two groups after treatment(P < 0.05),and the observation group were preferable than the control group;3.There were statistical difference in the clinical effect between two groups(P<0.05),and the observation group was preferable than the control group.4.There were statistical difference in the treatment days of cured patients between two groups(P<0.05),and the observation group was shorter than the control group.Conclusions: Compared with conventional acupuncture,acupuncture combined with wheat moxibustion can significantly improve the H-B facial nerve grading system,increase FDIP scores,decrease FDIS scores,have more preferable clinical efficacy and shorter recovery time,providing a preferred acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of this disease.
