Objective:In this study,we compared the clinical efficacy differences between advanced gyratory moxibustion combined with acupuncture and conventional acupuncture in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis(recovery period),and observed the changes in scale scores and electromyographic indices before and after treatment in the two groups,so as to provide a new protocol and basis for enriching the treatment of peripheral facial palsy with acupuncture. Methods:The 66 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method, with 33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture, and the main acupoints were selected as follows: Yangbai,Quanliao,Jiache,Dicang,Yifeng on the affected side, and Hegu on both sides, and the matching points were added and reduced according to the evidence. In the observation group,on the basis of the control group, advanced gyratory moxibustion was added, and the acupuncture points were the same as conventional acupuncture. The treatment course was the same for both groups, and both groups were treated for 6 consecutive days, once a day, rest for 1 day,and the efficacy was observed after 4 weeks of continuous treatment. The House-Brackmann facial nerve function classification standard and facial disability index(FDI)score were used for scale scoring, and the changes of wave amplitude and latency index of frontalis, orbicularis oculi and orbicularis oris muscle in electromyography were also observed. The results obtained were compiled and analyzed using SPSS statistical software to draw relevant conclusions.Results:1.General data: there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of gender, age and duration of disease(P>0.05),which were comparable.2.Intra-group comparison: H-B facial nerve function classification,FDI score,EMG wave amplitude and latency results improved in both groups after treatment, with significant differences comparing each group before treatment(P<0.01).3.Comparison between groups: Before treatment, there were no significant differences in H-B facial nerve function classification,FDI score,EMG wave amplitude and latency between the two groups(P>0.05),which were comparable. After treatment, the patients in the observation group had better improvement in all observed indexes than the control group, with significant differences(P<0.05).4.Comparison of total clinical efficacy: after treatment, the total clinical efficacy rate of the advanced gyratory moxibustion combined with acupuncture group was 93.94%,higher than that of the conventional acupuncture group 78.79%,and the difference between the two was statistically significant(P<0.01)Conclusion:1.Advanced gyratory moxibustion combined with acupuncture treatment and conventional acupuncture treatment can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of patients with peripheral facial paralysis during recovery period.2.In contrast to conventional acupuncture treatment, combining advanced gyratory moxibustion on its basis can significantly improve the relevant scale scores of patients with peripheral facial paralysis,as well as enhance the wave amplitude of frontalis, orbicularis oculi, and orbicularis oris muscle in the examination of electromyography, and effectively shorten the latency period in order to promote the recovery of facial nerve function.
