Research On The Improvement Of TCM Health Management Ability For The Elderly In Community Health Centers

In recent years,our country’s population are aging at an ever-increasing rate.Improving the ability of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)health management services for the aged in community health centers(CHC)is of great significance.It would assist in maximizing the benefits of TCM,promoting TCM tiered diagnosis and treatment,and exploring the health service model for the elderly.These actions would proactively respond to population aging.Therefore,improving the TCM health management service system for the elderly has far-reaching influence.However,the case study of Fuzhou revealed several issues with TCM health management service system at community level.(1)There is a lack of professional support for TCM health management services;(2)TCM health resources for the elderly at the CHC were unbalanced;(3)The emphasis on physical examination but neglect of health care results in insufficient post-examination capabilities;(4)The health services were separating from retirement service systems,make it hard to create the overall effect;(5)The form and content of health management service are inflexible because of the weak consciousness;(6)The construction of the network is lagging,which makes it difficult for health services that can be reached by the elderly.These problems are caused by both objective and subjective factors.Objective factors include regional development gaps,talent shortages,inadequate incentive systems and imperfect security systems.For subjective factors,the lacking consciousness of creation is critical.To improve the TCM health management services for the aged in CHC,first,it is necessary to make stronger efforts to increase medical resources of CHC,help primary TCM physicians enhance professional abilities and provide related incentive mechanisms to expanding the TCM talents base.Second,we must uphold the connotation of "Preventive Treatment" in TCM,especially in improving post-examination supporting services.An integrated TCM health management should be established both online and offline to accelerate the integration of TCM and elderly care.Therefore,we must remain committed to building an "Internet Plus" integrated platform,refining policies to make door-to-door medical services accessible,and enhancing propagation of TCM health knowledge to raise the elderly’s knowledge level.Also,TCM characteristic wards should be set up in CHC to cooperate with elderly care institutions,enriching the form and content of TCM health management services for the aged.These actions need medical staff strengthen their service consciousness and make service content more targeted.If so,the medical and health resources might be facilitated through system and mechanism innovation,and therefore inspire the potential of CHC to serve the elderly actively,exhibiting the unique advantages of TCM.Ultimately,the CHC would better fulfill its fundamental role in ensuring the health and safety of the elderly.
