Objective:This study investigated the occurrence of emotional and behavioral problems among children in Guiyang during the COVID-19 to understand the impact of the epidemic on children’s physical and mental health. And by carrying out online intervention for children’s parents, the feasibility of implementing online intervention in special periods is initially explored, which can provide reference for reducing the occurrence of children’s emotional and behavioral problems and promoting children’s mental health. Methods:In study 1,a multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 6 communities in Guiyang. All children aged 1-11 in the communities were included in the study,a total of 3619 parents of children were surveyed.A survey on children’s emotional and behavioral problems was conducted from March to April 2020 by means of wechat Push and online questionnaire,Chi-square test was used to analyze the positive rate of emotional and behavioral problems among children with different demographic characteristics, and binary Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors. The second study is to carry out online intervention for parents of children from April to June.Intervention objects are parents of children aged 1 to 11 who voluntarily join the group, and they are divided into groups according to the age of children,a total of702 questionnaires were received. The interventions included regular delivery of online course schedules within the wechat Group and on-line platform counselling for children of different ages. The intervention contents include psychological counseling, behavior management method guidance, parenting guidance, epidemic prevention and control knowledge education and so on.Parents’ participation in the online instruction and children’s intervention were divided into whole-process intervention group and part-process intervention group. After intervention, the scores of the two groups were compared by two independent samples t-test and Mann-whitney U test.Test level α = 0.05.Results:A cross-sectional study of children’s emotional and behavioral problems during an epidemic period found that 605 children were found to have 90 explicit problems(14.9%)and 62 implicit problems(10.2%),a total of 97 children were found to have the disorder, the detection rate was 16.0%,79 children were found to have the ability problem, the detection rate was13.1%,and 262 children were found to have the behavior problem among1636 preschool children, the detection rate was 16.0%,a total of 143 children with positive results were screened with the internal rating scale, the detection rate was 8.7%,230 children with positive results were screened with the external rating scale, the detection rate was 14.1%,and949 school-age children with behavioral problems were 219,the detection rate was 23.1%.Binary non-conditional Logistic regression analysis on the influencing factors of children’s emotional behavior problems during epidemic period showed that, the average daily face-to-face time of parents with their children during the epidemic period was negatively correlated with the children’s explicit, implicit and dysfunctional problems, the average daily exposure of children to electronic products during the epidemic period was positively correlated with their external domain problems, and the fact that children ate less during the epidemic period was a risk factor for the occurrence of the disorder, mother’s job fixation is the protective factor of positive risk in children’s competence domain.Changes in children’s overall sleep and eating habits during the epidemic period were risk factors for detecting positive emotional and behavioral problems in preschool and school-age children, the shorter the average daily exposure of children to electronic products during the epidemic period, the lower the likelihood of a positive risk for children’s emotional and behavioral problems, and the study also found that school-age girls emotional behavior problems detection rate is lower than boys.In Study 2,the online intervention study on children’s emotional and behavioral problems conducted by children’s parents found that in the two groups of children, the children in the whole intervention group had lower scores on activity/impulsivity(Z=2.100,P=0.036),preschool children’s scores on aggression were lower(Z=2.231,P=0.026),and school-aged children had lower scores on aggression(Z=2.297,P=0.024).The overall behavioral problem scores of the children were reduced.Among them, the early childhood boys in the whole intervention group were more The scores of motor problems were lower than those of the non-full intervention group. Conclusions:During the epidemic period, the positive detection rate of children’s emotional and behavioral problems in Guiyang area was relatively high.During the epidemic, the changes in children’s overall sleeping conditions and eating habits, the average daily contact time of children with electronic products, and the average daily face-to-face companionship of parents with children were the main factor of influence.of children’s emotional behavioral problems.Parents of children who have passed the whole online guidance can reduce the score and detection risk of children’s emotional behavior problems to a certain extent, especially for children’s extraversion behavior problems, which may have more practical significance. |
