Objective The core competency evaluation index system of chief resident nurses was constructed to further clarify the training objectives of chief resident nurses, improve the professional level of chief resident nurses, and provide reference for nursing managers to carry out education, training and performance assessment of chief resident nurses. Methods This study is divided into two parts. The first part is the construction of the evaluation index system, which adopts the methods of literature analysis, theoretical analysis and semi-structured interview to preliminarily construct the indexes of the evaluation index system of chief resident nurses’ core competence.Secondly, through Delphi expert correspondence method, the preliminary construction of the index system into the screening and modification, and finally determine the evaluation index system. The second part is the weight setting of the evaluation index system. The analytic hierarchy process(AHP)is used to determine the weight coefficients of indicators at all levels and conduct consistency tests to form the final evaluation index system of the core competence of chief resident nurses.Results1.Enthusiasm of experts in letter consultation: 2 expert letter consultation were conducted in this study. In the first round,22 questionnaires were sent out and 20 were recovered, with a recovery rate of 90.9%.In the second round,a total of 20 questionnaires were sent out,17 of which were recovered, with a recovery rate of85%,indicating that letter experts were highly motivated to participate in this study.2.The authority degree of expert opinions in letter consultation: In this study, the authority degree(Cr)of expert opinions in the first round and the second round was 0.845 and 0.841 respectively. The results of the two rounds of letter consultation were Cr > 0.8,indicating a high degree of expert authority.3.Coordination degree of expert opinions: The coefficient of variation(CV)of the two rounds of expert letter consultation was 0.00-0.20 and 0.00-0.16,respectively,and the CV of the two rounds of expert letter consultation was <0.25,indicating that the opinions of multiple experts at all levels of evaluation indicators were highly coordinated. In addition,Kendall’s W of the two rounds was 0.165 and 0.166,respectively.After x~2 test,P<0.01,indicating that the difference was statistically significant and expert scores tended to be consistent.4.Establishment of core competence index system of chief resident nurses: After two rounds of expert letter consultation,an index system of core competence of chief resident nurses was formed, including 5 first-level indicators,20 second-level indicators and 59 third-level indicators. The first-level indicators include 1responsibility ability,2 personal ability,3 interpersonal and group ability,4 critical thinking ability,5 effectiveness ability.Secondary indicators include 1.1 overall nursing ability of responsibility system,1.2 professional knowledge,1.3 Professional skills,2.1 personal characteristics,2.2 professional characteristics,2.3 learning characteristics,3.1 leadership,3.2 Management ability 3.3 interpersonal skills,4.1disease observation ability,4.2 assessment and risk prediction ability,4.3 nursing decision-making ability,4.4 sudden Event judgment and handling ability,4.5comprehensive analysis ability,4.6 complex problem solving ability,4.7 effect evaluation ability,5.1 Service and development ability,5.2 Legal and professional ethics ability,5.3 education and consulting ability,5.4 Scientific research and evidence-based ability.5.Weight setting of evaluation index system: Through analytic hierarchy process, the weight of five first-level indicators are 25.60% responsibility ability,13.81%individual ability,8.71% interpersonal and group ability,33.74% critical thinking ability and 18.14% effectiveness ability respectively. The weight of secondary indicators is 5.25% ~ 50.00%.The weight of the tertiary index is 3.54%-66.67%.Conclusion The evaluation index system of the core competence of the chief resident nurse constructed in this study contains 5 first-level indicators,20 second-level indicators and 59 third-level indicators, which is highly scientific and reliable and can provide reference for the cultivation and evaluation of the chief resident nurse in the future.
