Objective:To investigate the current situation of social support, sense of coherence and care burden of the family caregivers of stroke patients,to analyze the differences of care burden of family caregivers of stroke patients in general demographic characteristics,to explore the influencing factors of care burden, and to analyze the correlation among social support, sense of coherence and care burden of family caregivers of stroke patients. To further examine the mediating role of sense of coherence between social support and care burden. To provide theoretical basis for effective intervention measures to improve the care burden of the family caregivers of stroke patients. Methods:In this study,220 stroke patients and their family caregivers were selected from the Department of Neurology of three Grade 3A Hospitals in Jinan from February to July 2022.The subjects were investigated with general data questionnaire, social support rating scale,Chinese version sense of coherence scale-13 and Chinese version Zarit caregiver burden scale.SPSS26.0 and Amos24.0 statistical software were used to analyze the data.Statistical methods mainly include: descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test,one-way ANOVA,pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear stepwise regression analysis and structural equation model construction.Results:1.The total score of social support of the family caregivers of stroke patients was(37.53±8.94),and the total items were(3.75±0.89),which was at a middle level.the scores of the three dimensions from high to low were subjective support(5.39±1.29),objective support(3.19±0.96)and utilization of support(2.13±0.72).The total score of sense of coherence was(50.26±15.88),and the total score of all items was(3.87±1.22),which was a low level. The scores of three dimensions from high to low were Manageability(3.92±1.35),Comprehensibility(3.88±1.26)and Meaningfulness(3.78±1.74).The total score of care burden was(43.67 ±22.08),and the total score of all items was(3.87±1.22),which was at a middle level. The scores of the two dimensions from high to low were role burden(4.00±1.91)and personal burden(3.92±2.00).2.The results of the independent sample t-test or univariate analysis showed that age, place of residence, education level, marital status, payment method of medical expenses, and activities of daily living of patients,The family caregivers’ residence, education level, marital status, family per capita monthly income, chronic diseases, whether or not they have care experience, care years, and average daily care duration had statistically significant effects on the care burden of the family caregivers of stroke patients(P<0.05).3.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the social support of the family caregivers of stroke patients was significantly negatively correlated with the care burden(r=-0.816,P<0.01),and the sense of coherence was significantly negatively correlated with the care burden(r=-0.877,P < 0.01).Social support was positively correlated with sense of coherence(r=0.789,P<0.01).4.The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that sense of coherence, social support, patients’ activities of daily living, caregivers’ care experience and care years were the main influencing factors of care burden of family caregivers of stroke patients(P<0.05).5.The structural equation model shows that in the process of affecting care burden, the total effect of standardization is 0.888,the direct effect of standardization is 0.269,the indirect effect of standardization is 0.619,and the proportion of intermediary effect is 69.7%.The sense of coherence plays an intermediary role in the influence of social support on care burden.Conclusion:1.The social support of the family caregivers of stroke patients was in the middle level, the sense of coherence was at a low level, and the care burden was at a moderate level.2.There are significant differences in the care burden of the family caregivers of stroke patients in different demographic characteristics.3.There was a significant negative correlation between social support, sense of coherence and care burden, and a significant positive correlation between social support and sense of coherence.4.Sense of coherence, social support, patients’ activities of daily life, caregivers’ care experience and care years are important predictors of care burden of family caregivers in patients with stroke.5.Sense of coherence plays an intermediary role between social support and care burden.Social support can not only directly affect care burden, but also indirectly affect care burden through sense of coherence.
