Objective:The pathogenesis of hyperplasia of mammary glands(HMG)is complicated.Associated symptoms can be effectively relieved and prevented from recurrence by promoting the flow of qi and blood via traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)diagnosis and treatment. This study focuses on the epidemiology of HMG through the analysis of its references and clinical epidemiology, and to explore the role of liver’s function in dispersion in the formation of HMG.Furthermore,it will improve the research on the etiology and pathogenesis of HMG and provide theoretical reference for its prevention and treatment. Methods:The analysis is conducted through both theoretical and clinical research.Theoretical research mainly combs through ancient and modern references,as well as studies the changes in the pathogenesis to explore the correlation between "liver governing free flow of qi" and HMG.The clinical research is mainly based on the firsthand information gathered recently.According to the specifically selected criteria,160 HMG patients participated in the survey to fill the HMG Clinical Research Form, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitution Scale(TCMCS),and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HAD)to investigate the epidemiology, dialectical and constitution classification, and HAD evaluation, etc.Corresponding clinical database is established in Excel and analyzed by SPSS 27.0 software, where the statistics of personal condition,TCM Syndrome Types,TCM Constitution, and HAD tendency are presented. The correlation between epidemiology and influencing factors such as age, smoking and drinking history, mental condition and sleep condition, etc.are analyzed, discussed and concluded, combining with the traditional Chinese medicine theory.Results:1.Theoretical research:Through the study and analysis of Traditional Chinese Medicine classics and literature,it was found that HMG is related to dysfunction of the liver, spleen, and kidney.Liver plays a particularly key role in the pathogenesis of this disease via its function in dispersion. Therefore, the treatment of HMG should start with regulating the liver, soothing depression, tonifying spleen and eliminating phlegm, which should be applied throughout the course of the disease and its prognosis.2.Clinical research:A survey of 160 patients with HMG was conducted. The results showed that of the 160 patients with HMG included in this study, most of them had irregular menstruation, thyroid nodules or other endocrine diseases. The age of HMG’s onset mainly distributed in mostly young and middle-aged people from 31~40(41.25%)and 41~50 years old(25.00%).Most of the HMG patients suffer mental issues as well.Usual clinical symptoms of HMG patients, explained in Traditional Chinese Medicine theories, mainly consist stringy pulse, dietary crapulence, smooth and soft hyperplasia less than 1cm,bad mood, cold limbs, impatience, irregular menstruation, tongue with teeth marks, throat foreign body sensation, insomnia, etc.all of which are closely related to liver dysfunction in dispersion.Among the 6 Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes, the most frequent symptoms were liver depression with qi stagnation(38.13%)and liver depression with phlegm-dampness(37.50%),both of which are related to liver imbalance. The rest common symptoms include liver depression and blood stasis,phlegm-dampness and blood stasis, yin deficiency and fire flaming, liver depression and spleen deficiency.Regarding the Chinese medicine constitution of patients with HMG,most of them have more than two symptoms, while the constitution is mostly biased. The first constitution is mainly yang deficiency,qi depression, and phlegm-wetness,while the second is mainly qi depression,phlegm-wetness,and qi deficiency.Conclusion:1.Liver dysfunction in dispersion is the core pathophysiology of HMG.Emotional trauma, imbalance of yin and yang, and congestion of phlegm and blood lead to the formation of HMG.Thus, regulating the liver, promoting qi flow, and eliminating phlegm and dampness are among the main methods of clinical treatment for HMG.2.Clinical surveys have shown that the most common Traditional Chinese Medicine patterns associated with liver dysfunction lies in liver qi stagnation and liver qi and phlegm stagnation. Therefore, studies and therapies should be focused on regulating the liver, promoting qi flow, and eliminating phlegm and blood stasis.3.Research found that there are various constitutional types among HMG patients, and clinically,it mostly occurs in people with qi-stagnation,yang deficiency, and phlegm-dampness constitutions.
