| The incidence of benign thyroid nodules among endocrine system diseases is gradually increasing due to various factors such as environmental,social and personal influences,and most benign nodules are asymptomatic at the onset.Most benign nodules are asymptomatic at the time of presentation.Small nodules with no obvious symptoms are easily overlooked and are mostly detected by physical examination.In general,benign thyroid nodules do not require special clinical intervention and regular follow-up is sufficient;some patients choose Chinese medicine treatment because of their psychological burden or because they do not accept modern medical treatment.This study was conducted based on this background and aimed to demonstrate the unique advantages of TCM in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules.Objective: To observe the clinical effects of the external application of the formula for dispersing nodules in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules with qi and phlegm obstruction,to explore the etiology and pathogenesis of benign thyroid nodules and the mechanism of action of the external application of traditional Chinese medicine,and to provide a new direction and idea for the treatment of this disease in traditional Chinese medicine.Methods: Eighty patients with benign thyroid nodules attending the outpatient and inpatient departments of Weifang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital(consultation dates September 2021-October 2022)were selected,and those identified by TCM as the type of qi-depression and phlegm obstruction.The patients were divided equally into treatment and control groups according to the randomization principle.The control group was given Liqi Sanjie Pill orally at 10 g twice a day.The treatment group was given once a day to disperse the external application of the formula.The treatment period of both groups was 30 days as a course of treatment,with 3 consecutive courses of treatment.The biochemical indexes of routine blood,liver,kidney and nail function,nodule risk factor score,maximum transverse diameter of nodules on thyroid ultrasound,Chinese medicine evidence score and Hamilton anxiety scale(HA-MA scale)score were recorded before and after treatment.The above data were compiled and analyzed by SPSS 26.0 software.Results analysis:1.2 cases were shed in each of the treatment and control groups,and a total of 76 cases were finally completed.2.Compared with the pre-treatment period,the maximum transverse diameter of nodules decreased in both groups after treatment.Among them,the efficacy was 78.95% in the treatment group and 68.42% in the control group,and the efficacy of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).3.The high-risk factor scores and HA-MA scale scores of patients in both groups improved after treatment compared with those before treatment,and the degree of improvement was similar(P>0.05).4.After treatment,it was found that the treatment group was more effective than the control group in relieving patients’ neck fullness and swollen nodules in front of the neck,and better reducing the possibility of nodule malignancy.5.At the end of 3 courses of treatment,the TCM evidence scores of patients in both groups were reduced to some extent,but the reduction was more significant in the treatment group(P<0.05).6.The results of the study showed that the effect of drug treatment was more pronounced for nodules within 1cm in diameter(P<0.05).7.During the treatment,the basic vital signs of the patients in both groups were stable,and the indexes of laboratory examination of the three A gong,blood routine and liver and kidney gong were within the normal reference range,and the related adverse reactions were not significantly produced.Conclusion: The external application of Dispersing Nodules Formula can improve the symptoms of patients with benign thyroid nodules of qi-stagnant and phlegm-blocking type,reduce the size of nodules and decrease the chance of malignant transformation of nodules with excellent safety,which is worthy of in-depth study and promotion. |
