Background:Pregnancy and childbirth are independent risk factors for postpartum urinary incontinence, which has a high prevalence and is mainly of the stress type.Pelvic floor muscle training is currently the first line of prevention and treatment for postpartum stress incontinence, but pelvic floor muscle training is a long-term process that requires a high level of patient compliance, and good compliance facilitates the treatment of postpartum stress incontinence.A family is an important place for family members to provide material and spiritual resources, and it is also the most basic and important place for patients to relieve their pain and promote their health.Unlike other periods of life, the family is the most important place of life for postpartum women at this stage of life, and as postpartum stress incontinence patients require long-term pelvic floor training at home, maintaining the stability and balance of the family system is particularly important for the recovery of postpartum stress incontinence patients. It is therefore important to investigate the relationship between family support and family function in patients with postpartum stress incontinence and their compliance with pelvic floor muscle training,to provide a theoretical basis for the development of targeted family interventions. Objective:To describe the current status of family support, family function and pelvic floor muscle training compliance in patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence;to explore the correlation between family support, family function and pelvic floor muscle training compliance in patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence. Methods:This is a descriptive study to facilitate the selection of 130 patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence who were seen at the Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Centre of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from August 2022 to February 2023.The General Information Questionnaire was used to collect general information about the patients upon their admission to the Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Centre for treatment;the Family Support Self-Assessment Scale was applied to measure the patients’ level of family support;the Family adaptability and cohesion evaluation scale was used to measuring the patients’ family function;and the Pelvic Floor Training Adherence Questionnaire was used to measure the patient’s compliance level. The data were processed using SPSS25.0 statistical software, and descriptive statistics were used to analyse the general information, family support, family function and pelvic floor muscle training compliance scores of patients with postpartum stress incontinence;two independent samples t-test,one-way ANOVA,Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were selected to compare the scores of patients with postpartum stress incontinence.urinary incontinence patients in terms of general information on family support, family functioning and compliance with pelvic floor muscle training;Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis was used to clarify the relationship between patients’family support, family function and compliance with pelvic floor muscle training.Results:1.The mean family support score of patients with postpartum stress incontinence was 13.0(12.0,14.0),with an overall high level of support, including 81(62.3%)with a high level of family support,49(37.7%)with a medium level of family support, and no low level of family support. When comparing the mean scores for each item on the Family Support Self-Assessment Scale, the lowest and highest scores were for item 14 and item 11 respectively.Univariate analysis showed that the level of family support differed between patients with postpartum stress incontinence by the different parity and mode of delivery, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).2.The total score for family functioning was 112.29±14.60,which was at an intermediate level, with the family closeness dimension having a score of 59.29±14.60.The family type of the 130 patients was predominantly balanced(59 patients,45.4%),followed by intermediate families(51 patients,39.2%)and 20 families(15.4%)were extreme families.3.The mean score for compliance with pelvic floor muscle training was 10.68±3.98,which is at an intermediate level. The univariate analysis showed that the level of compliance with pelvic floor training differed between patients at different postpartum times and different modes of delivery, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).4.The correlation coefficients between patients’ family support, total family functioning score, family closeness score and family adaptability score and compliance with pelvic floor training were 0.268,0.185,0.204 and 0.150,respectively.In addition, the correlation coefficient between family support and the total family functioning score was 0.499(P<0.001).Conclusion:Patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence have high levels of family support and moderate levels of family functioning and pelvic floor training adherence. The stronger the patient’s family support, the better the family functioning and the more likely the patient is to adhere to pelvic floor training. In future clinical work,we should consider the family factors of patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence, establish a family support system from multiple perspectives, bring into play the role of family function, and improve patients’ compliance with pelvic floor muscle training.
