Objectives The clinical efficacy of the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia by penetrating acupuncture points along the skin and conventional acupuncture was observed to compare the clinical differences between the two groups and provide a valid basis for the future treatment of this disease. Methods In this trial,70 patients with postherpetic neuralgia who met the relevant diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group of 35 patients each between January 2021 and January 2022.In the control group, the A-Shi point and Geshu were stabbed obliquely, followed by direct stabs at Quchi,Neiguan,Hegu,Yanglingquan,Sanyinjiao and Xuehai;in the treatment group, the A-Shi point was stabbed locally along the direction of the intercostal nerve, and the rest of the acupoints were the same as those in the control group. The treatment course was 4 weeks,1 time/day,for 30 minutes, with a total of 6 needling sessions a week.At the end of the 4 weeks of treatment, the data of pain analogue score(VAS),time to start pain relief,Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA),Sleep Status Rating Scale(SRSS)and TCM evidence score were recorded before and after acupuncture in both groups, and the reduction of each index was compared to observe the final evaluation of clinical efficacy and compare the differences between the two groups. Results General information as well as pre-treatment VAS scores,HAMA scores,SRSS scores and TCM evidence scores for both groups were tested for normality and baseline results were comparable(P > 0.05).1 VAS scores were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05);compared within the two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2 When comparing the time to start pain relief in the two groups, the treatment group started earlier than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).3 SRSS scores were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).4HAMA scores were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05);comparing the data within the two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).5 Chinese medicine evidence points were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05);comparing the data within the two groups, the difference was statistically significant. The overall clinical efficacy was 94.29%(33/35)in the treatment group and 77.14%(27/35)in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).Conclusions The results showed that both percutaneous and conventional acupuncture reduced the pain of postherpetic neuralgia and improved other clinical symptoms, but percutaneous acupuncture was more effective in reducing pain and improving clinical symptoms.Figure0;Table12;Reference101...
