Objectives To observe the clinical effect of the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia(PTN)by the temple penetrating ashi acupoint. Methods Sixty-six PTN patients who met the criteria were randomly divided into two groups with 33 patients in each group. The experimental group was treated by The temple penetrating Ashi acupoint, local acupoints on the affected side were selected: The temple and Ashi acupoint(select the affected side of the eyebrow, nose or mouth near a acupoint),bilateral acupuncture points: Fengchi acupoint,Hegu acupoint; The control group received conventional acupuncture treatment. The local affected acupoints were Xiaguan acupoint,Opthalmic branch: Yangbai acupoint,Sizhukong acupoint.Maxillary branch: Sibai acupoint,Quanliao acupoint;Mandibular branch: Jiache acupoint,Dicang acupoint;Bilateral acupuncture acupoints: Fengchi acupoint,Hegu acupoint.Acupuncture was performed until qi was obtained, and the needle was retained for about 30 min, once a day. After 6 consecutive days of treatment, rest for 1 day,7 days as a course of treatment,a total of 3 courses of treatment.Main observation indicators before and after treatment were recorded: visual analogue scale(VAS),attack frequency and attack time, and secondary observation indicators before and after treatment were recorded: pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),and attack frequency during follow-up.SPSS23.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data and conclusions were drawn. Results 1 There were no significant differences in gender, age, lesion site, lesion nerve distribution, course of disease,VAS,attack frequency, attack time,PQSI and SAS before treatment between 2 groups(P < 0.05).2 The main observation indexes(VAS,attack frequency and attack time): after treatment, both groups were significantly lower than before, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).Compared between the two groups, the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).3 The secondary observation indicators(PQSI,SAS): after treatment, the scores of the two groups were significantly lower than before, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).Compared between the two groups, the scores of the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).4 The secondary observation indicators(attack frequency during follow-up): the attack frequency during follow-up in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.5 Disease curative effect: the total effective rate of the experimental group was 93.94%(31/33),and that of the control group was 75.76%(25/33),the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).6 Adverse reaction events: 1 mild adverse reaction occurred in both groups, and no serious adverse reaction occurred. Conclusions 1 The temple penetrating ashi acupoint has definite clinical efficacy in the treatment of PTN,effectively reducing the attack frequency, attack time, pain index, anxiety and sleep disorder score of PTN patients.2 The treatment of PTN by the temple penetrating ashi acupoint reduces the stimulation points, alleviates the pain and increases the range of needle sensation, and is relatively safe in clinical application, which is worth promoting in clinical application.Figure0;Table13;Reference116...
