The Development And Preliminary Application Of The Core Competence Scale For Pediatric Specialist Nurse

Objectives 1 To develop a scale of core competence for pediatric nurse specialist and provide an evaluation tool for the evaluation of core competence of pediatric nurse specialist.2 The core competence scale of pediatric nurse specialist prepared in this study was used to investigate the current situation of the core competence of pediatric specialist nurse,analyze the influencing factors,and provide a theoretical basis for the development of intervention measures to improve the core competence of pediatric specialist nurse.Methods 1 Guided by the theory of core competence and through literature research and Delphi method,this study formulated the initial scale of core competence for pediatric specialist nurse.2 Convenience sampling method was used to select 444 pediatric specialist nurse from 10 grade-a hospitals in Hebei for questionnaire survey.Item distribution method,critical ratio method and correlation coefficient method were used to select the items of the scale.The scale validity was tested by content validity,structure validity and calibration correlation validity.Cronbach’sαcoefficient,split reliability and retest reliability were used to verify the reliability of the scale.3 Use the convenience sampling method to select 189 pediatric specialist nurses as the research object,using general data questionnaire,this study compiled by the pediatric specialist nurse core competence scale,social support scale,the nurse professional identity scale and general self-efficacy scale for pediatric specialist nurse cross-sectional survey on status and influencing factors of core competence,SPSS24.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Mean±standard deviation was used to describe the current status of pediatric specialist nurses’core competence,and independent sample T test,analysis of variance and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of pediatric specialist nurses’core competence.Results 1 After two rounds of Delphi expert letter consultation and preliminary survey,the initial scale of pediatric specialist nurse’s core competence was developed,including44 items in 5 dimensions.Item analysis no item is deleted.Item content validity index ranged from 0.857 to 1.000,and scale content validity index was 0.941.After 3 times of exploratory factor analysis to delete 10 entries,extract the five common factor,the cumulative variance contribution rate is 72.942%,formed contains professional development ability,the ability of clinical nursing practice,management,guidance,communication and coordination ability,basic professional quality of five dimensions,a total of 34 items pediatric specialist nurse core competence scale;The fitting indexes of confirmatory factor analysis wereχ~2/df=2.632,CFI=0.869,TLI=0.857,RMSEA=0.090.The total score of the scale was positively correlated with the total score of CIRN,and the correlation coefficient was 0.896.The Cronbach’sαcoefficient of the total amount table is0.975,the half-fold reliability is 0.861,and the retest reliability is 0.985.2 The total score of core competence of pediatric specialist nurse was(133.17±16.927).The highest score of five dimensions was clinical nursing practice competence,and the lowest score was management and guidance competence.The results of univariate analysis showed that the core competence level of pediatric specialist nurse was different with different age,marital status,working years,educational background,technical title,position and nurse level.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the three variables of nurses’professional identity,the nurse hierarchy and age were included in the regression equation,which explained 47.9%of the total variation of pediatric specialist nurses’core competence.Conclusions 1 The pediatric specialist nurse core competence scale has good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate the pediatric specialist nurse core competence in China.2 The clinical nursing practice ability of pediatric specialist nurse is high,but the management and guidance ability needs to be improved;Professional identity,the nurse hierarchy and age of nurses are the influencing factors of pediatric specialist nurses’core competence,which can positively predict the level of pediatric specialist nurse’core competence.Figure 4;Table 34;Reference 83.
