Objective:To study the effect of interventional closure of patent foramen ovale(PFO)on patients with patent foramen ovale complicated with migraine.Method:We selected patients with migraine diagnosed as non closure of the foramen ovale in the Structural Heart Disease Area of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital from March 2021 to February 2022,and performed an occlusion surgery for the foramen ovale. We followed up for 1 year after the surgery to compare the headache and its concomitant conditions of the patients before and 1,3,6,and 12 months after the surgery. The follow-up mainly includes the impact test scale 6(HIT-6)score,the numerical rating scale(NRS),and the patient’s headache rate to evaluate the efficacy of foramen ovale occlusion for PFO combined with migraine.Result:After excluding patients who were lost to follow-up,a total of 181 patients were included in the study. After comparison, the HIT-6 score and NRS headache number score were significantly lower than before surgery, with a statistically significant difference(both p<0.05).And there were also statistical differences when comparing two patients at 1 month,3 months,6 months, and 12 months after surgery(all p<0.05).After 12 months of surgery, the headache disappearance rate was 27.07%,the significant improvement rate was 38.12%,the improvement rate was 16.02%,and the no improvement rate was 18.79%,all of which were statistically significant(p<0.05).The difference in headache scores before and after surgery is negatively correlated with the patient’s age(p<0.05),which may suggest that the efficacy of PFO occlusion for migraine is related to age,and the younger the age,the better the effect. With the exclusion of definite etiology,in addition to improvement of headache symptoms, several cases of dizziness, limb numbness, transient syncope, transient blurred vision or blackness also improved or disappeared to varying degrees after oval foramen occlusion. Conclusion:Oval foramen occlusion significantly improved headache symptoms in migraine patients. |
