With the increasing number of Chinese workers going to Africa, malaria infection has become the most important health threat to this group that cannot be ignored.By widely disseminating health information,we can influence individuals’ health perceptions, and then form health beliefs to maintain health and prevent diseases, and eventually adopt healthy lifestyles, which is the only way to improve the health maintenance effect of this group. Therefore, this study explored the effectiveness of health cognition on malaria protection for a special group of Chinese workers in Africa. The study found that,at the level of health cognition, there was a significant correlation between the malaria knowledge level of Chinese workers in Africa and their beliefs about malaria prevention, and the higher the knowledge level, the stronger the beliefs about malaria prevention;at the same time, the level of health cognition directly affected the effectiveness of malaria protection, and the higher the cognition level, the better the effectiveness of malaria protection. At the level of health beliefs, respondents’ beliefs about malaria prevention in terms of perceived threat, perceived benefit, and self-efficacy were not sufficiently positive. Before establishing beliefs, individuals assess the information they learn about malaria. The credibility of the source and the validity of the information interfere with the direction of individual decisions, and only when individuals’ health perceptions are internalized into firm values do they move toward the belief link.At the level of health behavior, when the fear and apprehension caused by the malaria information subsides, the behavior loses its incentive mechanism to move easily toward disruption or termination. Therefore, how to keep the incentive mechanism working continuously and keep the health perception of Chinese workers in Africa at a high level is what should be done to enhance the effect of health maintenance through health communication.
