Objective To understand the relationship between social support,self-esteem,anxiety and depression in HIV-infected patients,and to explore the mediating role of self-esteem in the influence of social support on anxiety and depression symptoms.MethodsConvenient sampling method was adopted to select HIV-infected persons who received medical services in designated units in Haikou from April 2021 to April2022 and met the inclusion criteria.Social support,self-esteem,anxiety and depression were evaluated by trained investigators.The questionnaire mainly includes the general situation questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale compiled by Xiao Shuiyuan,SSRS,Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale(SES),Generalized Anxiety Disorder,GAD-7),Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9).SPSS 22.0 was used for reliability analysis,normality analysis,difference analysis,correlation analysis and other statistical analysis of the data.MPLUS 8.0 software was used to analyze the mediating effect using non-parametric percentile Bootstrap method with deviation correction.Results1.Among 317 HIV-infected patients,the incidence of anxiety and depression was45.74% and 62.46% respectively.The social support score was 28(23,32)points,among which 46 cases(14.51%)were low,164 cases(51.74%)were average and 107cases(33.75%)were high.The scores of self-esteem were 29(26,32),with 68 cases(21.45%)low,174 cases(54.89%)average and 75 cases(23.66%)high.2.The effect of social support on self-esteem was a = 0.208(P<0.01),the effect of self-esteem on anxiety was b =-0.442(P<0.01),the effect of self-esteem on depression was b =-0.458(P<0.01),The estimated mediating effect of social support on anxiety was ab =-0.092(P<0.01),the results of the intermediate test did not contain 0(LLCI=-0.145,ULCI=-0.049).The estimated mediating effect of social support on depression was ab =-0.095(P< 0.01),the results of the mediation test did not contain 0(LLCI=-0.149,ULCI=-0.048),suggesting that the mediation effect model is well fitted,and increasing social support and improving self-esteem have effects on anxiety and depression.Conclusion1.The level of social support and self-esteem of HIV-infected patients can predict their anxiety and depression.2.The self-esteem of HIV-infected persons mediates the effect of social support on anxiety and depression.
