Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of "Modified Zi Su Ban Xia Decoction" in the treatment of chronic bronchitis in the acute stage(Phlegm and dampness in the lungs syndrome),so as to lay the foundation for clinical application and promotion. Methods:In this study,64 patients with acute onset of chronic bronchitis(Phlegm and dampness in the lungs syndrome)were included in the treatment, and 64 eligible subjects were randomly divided into control and treatment groups using the random number table method, with 32 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional Western medicine treatment;the treatment group was given "Modified Zi Su Ban Xia Decoction" oral treatment on top of the control group, one dose per day in 2 bags of 100 ml each, one bag in the morning and one in the evening, and the course of treatment for both groups was 2 weeks. The efficacy of TCM symptoms,TCM symptoms score, peripheral blood leukocytes,C-reactive protein and related vital signs were observed before and after treatment in the test and control groups. Results:During the study period, one case was lost to the trial group for some reason, and one case was shed due to poor compliance without taking the medication on time;one case was shed in the control group due to poor patient compliance without taking the medication on time. The remaining 61 cases had good compliance, with 30 cases in the trial group and 31 cases in the control group actually completed.1.Baseline comparison: There was no statistical difference(P > 0.05)between the two groups in terms of basic information regarding gender, height, weight,BMI,age, and smoking history before treatment, which were comparable.2.Total effective rate: after treatment, the total effective rate of the test group was96.7%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 77.4%,the test group was better than the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically different(P<0.05).3.There was no statistically significant difference in the TCM syndrome scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and the total TCM syndrome scores and each symptom score in the test group and the control group decreased after treatment(P<0.05).Among them: the total TCM symptom score of the test group was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05);the effect of the test group was better than that of the control group in improving the symptoms of cough, fever, fever, chest and diaphragm fullness and nausea(P < 0.05);there was no statistically significant difference between the two treatment groups in coughing, wheezing and chest pain(P > 0.05).4.Inflammatory indexes: There was no significant difference in the comparison of leukocytes and C-reactive protein between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and these 2 inflammatory indexes decreased significantly after treatment compared with the same group before treatment(P<0.05),but the difference in the improvement of leukocytes and C-reactive protein between the two groups after treatment was not statistically significant(P>0.05).5.Symptom improvement time: After treatment, the improvement time of cough symptoms in the test group was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the improvement time of cough and wheezing between the two groups.6.Safety indicators: there was no significant difference in heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood Pressure,AST,ALT,Cr,and BUN before and after treatment between the two groups(all P > 0.05).Conclusions:1.The overall clinical efficacy of "Modified Zi Su Ban Xia Decoction" in combination with conventional Western medical treatment for the acute phase of chronic bronchitis(Phlegm and dampness in the lungs syndrome)is definite and better than conventional Western medical treatment alone;it can reduce the Chinese medical symptoms in patients with acute phase of chronic bronchitis, and has unique therapeutic effects in cough, fever, chest and diaphragm fullness and dullness;it can effectively reduce the degree of inflammatory response.2.The combination of "Modified Zi Su Ban Xia Decoction" with conventional Western medical treatment has been clinically proven to be safe and effective, providing an objective and effective basis for the treatment of acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis with Chinese medicine, which is worth further promotion.
