OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise,Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention, and a combination of the two on the propensity to relapse and risk factors for relapse in drug dependence, and to compare possible differences between the three therapies.SUBJECTS AND METHODS: A randomized controlled experimental design was used to divide 48 male drug-dependent subjects in a compulsory isolation drug rehabilitation facility in XX city into 36 subjects in the experimental group(12 in the MBRP group,12 in the exercise group, and 12 in the combined group)and 12 in the control group(12 in the conventional treatment group)according to the brigade to which they belonged. The orthomolecular group received 90min/time/week of orthomolecular anti-relapse training sessions, the exercise group received 30 min/time,3 times per week of moderate intensity aerobic exercise, and the combined group received 1 orthomolecular and 3 exercise interventions per week for a total of 8 weeks, and the data were analyzed and processed using SPSS.25.RESULTS: 1.48 subjects completed the postintervention assessment in this study, and no subjects were lost. There were no significant differences in demographic information, relevant clinical information and baseline data among the four groups(P > 0.05).2.Correlation analysis revealed that the propensity to relapse among drug-dependent individuals was significantly and positively correlated with drug craving level and experience avoidance level, and significantly and negatively correlated with self-control ability.3.The time effect and interaction effect of relapse propensity level were significant(P < 0.05),and the simple effect results showed that the difference of relapse propensity level at four repeated measurement time points was statistically significant(P < 0.05)between the MBRP group and the combined group, from low to high in order of immediate post-test < post-effective follow-up < mid-test < baseline test.4.Repeated measures of variance for drug craving levels and other factors at high risk for relapse: there was an interaction(P < 0.05)for grouping and time of different interventions, and the trend from good to bad was mostly immediate post-test → post-effective follow-up → mid-test → baseline test.CONCLUSIONS: 1.The higher the level of craving, experiential avoidance and negative emotions in drug dependent individuals, the higher the tendency to relapse;the better the self-control ability, the lower the tendency to relapse.2.In terms of the propensity to relapse: the MBRP group and the combined group significantly reduced the propensity to relapse in drugdependent individuals and maintained the effect until at least 4 weeks after the end of the intervention;no statistically significant changes were observed in the exercise group.3.At the level of drug craving and experiential avoidance: All three groups showed significant improvement and maintained the effect until at least 4 weeks after the end of the intervention;the combined group had a better intervention effect than the single intervention protocol.4.In self-control and positive mood: all three groups showed significant improvement, but the combined group outperformed the single intervention group and maintained the effect until at least 4 weeks after the end of the intervention;in negative mood, only the intervention program that included MBRP showed improvement and maintained the effect until4 weeks after the end of the intervention.
