With the rapid changes in China’s population structure and residents’ lifestyle, the demand for medical and health services has also increased, while the supply of medical and health services still faces significant constraints. Therefore, how to improve the supply level of medical and health services in various regions is an urgent issue to be solved in the process of realizing a healthy China in China. This article takes 31 provinces and municipalities in China from 2005 to 2020 as the research object.Firstly, based on literature review, relevant data are collected and a scientific and reasonable evaluation index system is constructed. The entropy weight method is used to measure the supply level of medical and health services in various regions;Secondly,Dagum Gini coefficient and its decomposition,Kernel density estimation, and Markov chain state transition method are used to explore the spatial distribution characteristics of China’s health service supply level; Then,a spatial econometric model is introduced to empirically analyze the influencing factors of the supply level of medical and health services in China; Finally, based on the empirical results, some countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to improve the supply level of medical and health services in China.Through empirical analysis, the main conclusions are as follows: First, the overall level of medical and health service supply in China is rising, but there are significant gaps between different regions, mainly showing a spatial pattern of "high in the east and low in the west.".Secondly,the overall, intra regional, and inter regional differences in the supply level of medical and health services are decreasing, and the overall differences mainly come from inter regional differences; There is a multipolar polarization in the supply level of medical and health services between China and the eastern region, with polarization in the central region and insignificant polarization in the western region; The dynamic evolution of the supply level of medical and health services in China has the characteristics of stability and "conditional convergence".State transitions occur between adjacent level types, and are more likely to shift upward. The probability of leapfrog transitions is small. At the same time, considering spatial factors, the supply level of medical and health services has the characteristics of "club convergence".Thirdly, there is a significant global spatial autocorrelation in the supply level of medical and health services in China, and there is a spatial agglomeration characteristic of high to low.Fourth,China’s medical and health service supply level shows a positive spatial spillover effect; The level of economic development, urbanization, and opening up have a significant promoting effect on the improvement of the supply level of medical and health services. The degree of fiscal decentralization has a significant inhibitory effect on the improvement of the supply level of medical and health services.Based on the above research conclusions, this article proposes the following suggestions: First, optimize and adjust the allocation of resources, deepen the reform of the medical and health system;Secondly, improve the public finance system and regulate local government financial expenditure;Third, enhance regional spatial interaction and exert positive spatial spillover effects;Fourth, promote coordinated economic development and accelerate the process of urbanization. |
