Objective: To observe the rehabilitation effect of 4 weeks of thermal moxibustion combined with exercise therapy on the motor function of hemiplegic limbs and the ability of daily living activities,as well as the improvement of related symptoms and signs in patients with motor dysfunction during the recovery period of cerebral infarction.Method: From January 2020 to December 2022,128 patients with motor dysfunction during the recovery period of cerebral infarction were screened from the inpatient cases of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of our hospital, and the patients were divided into two groups, the control group with 64 patients in group and the study group with64 patients in group. After admission, all patients were required to undergo routine examination, rehabilitation care and comprehensive medical and standardized rehabilitation treatment according to patients with cerebral infarction. In the control group, standardized rehabilitation training was provided, including stroke acupuncture therapy, hemiplegic exercise therapy, and low-frequency pulsed electrical therapy for hemiplegic limbs, etc.Among them, the hemiplegic exercise therapy was prescribed by a rehabilitation team composed of rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation therapists and specialist nurses according to the patients’ cognition and emotion, limb sensory and motor conditions, and cardiopulmonary function. The study group was treated on the basis of the control group. In the study group, thermal moxibustion was added to the treatment of the control group, and gentle moxibustion was applied to the strong thermal acupoints.6 days/week for 4 weeks. The Fugl-Meyer Limb Function Scale was used to assess the motor function of the limbs.the modified Barthel Index(MBI)score was used to evaluate the patients’ ability to take care of themselves.the criteria for assessing the efficacy of Chinese medicine symptoms in the 1996 Diagnostic and Efficacy Assessment Criteria for Stroke Diseases. The pre-treatment and post-treatment efficacy indices of the paralyzed limbs in the two groups were compared after 4 weeks of treatment. The improvement of motor function,Chinese medicine symptom efficacy, and daily living activities were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results:1.126 cases completed the experiment,63 cases in the control group(shedding 1 case)and 63 cases in the study group(shedding 1case)2.After 4 weeks of treatment, the Fugl-meyer assessment and modified Barthel index scores improved in both the control and study groups compared with the pre-treatment baseline, but the improvement was significantly better in the study group than in the control group, with a difference(P < 0.05).3.After 4 weeks of treatment, the efficacy of TCM symptoms in both the control group and the study group improved significantly compared with that before treatment, with the total effective rate of61.91% in the control group and 90.47% in the study group, and the study group was better than the control group, and there was a difference in the efficacy of TCM symptoms between the two groups(P< 0.05).Conclusion: Thermal moxibustion combined with exercise therapy treatment on the basis of conventional treatment can further improve the motor function, enhance the ability of daily life, and improve the symptoms and signs of TCM stroke disease in patients recovering from cerebral infarction.
