| Objective: The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of Qufeng Decoction on patients with wind-cough type of cough variant asthma. The efficacy of Qufeng Decoction was assessed by observing the cough(both daytime and nighttime cough),the traditional Chinese medical symptoms, peripheral blood eosinophil count, serum immunoglobulin E level and its clinical efficacy before and after treatment in both groups, and also by assessing its safety. Methods: This topic was a clinical experimental study. This study strictly followed the principle of randomized control. The subjects of this study were from the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The patients came to the pulmonary department because of lung disease.Patients’ visits were concentrated between December 2021 and December 2022.Sixty patients with wind cough were selected. They all met the inclusion criteria for this study. To ensure the reliability of the test results, patients were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table method. Both groups had the same number of people. There were 30 patients in each group.Specific treatment operations were as follows.patients in the control group were given oral montelukast therapy.Usage was to eat once per night, and to eat 1 tablet each time; The experimental group was given traditional Chinese medicine Qufeng decoction orally.Usage was to eat 1 dose every day,and 1 dose into 2 packs, and then eat 1 pack half an hour after breakfast and dinner. The observation period of the whole subject was 2weeks.The observational indicators were recorded before and after treatment by researcher, including cough symptom score, the traditional Chinese medical symptom total scores, the traditional Chinese medical various symptom scores, peripheral blood eosinophil count, serum immunoglobulin E.Recorded adverse events that occurred during treatment.According to the established efficacy criteria, the overall effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was calculated. All the data recorded were tabulated and entered into the computer.Finally,SPSS25.0 software was used for statistical verification.Results:1.Basic information distribution of the two groups of patients before intervention: A total of 60 patients with wind cough were collected in this study, and no cases were shed or terminated during the whole study period. After statistical analysis,There was no significant difference in basic conditions among all patients before enrollment(P> 0.05).There were mainly the following aspects: the patient’s gender, age, course of disease, cough symptom scores, the traditional Chinese medical symptom total scores, the traditional Chinese medical various symptom scores, peripheral blood eosinophil count, and serum immunoglobulin E.These results indicated that patients were grouped evenly, and this study also conformed to the principle of randomized control. The data of the two groups were comparable.2.Comparison of the two groups of patients after intervention:(1)When comparing the data before and after treatment in the same group,it can be seen that there was a decrease in the post-treatment data in both groups, compared to the pre-treatment data. These data included cough symptom scores, the traditional Chinese medical symptom total scores, the traditional Chinese medical various symptom scores, peripheral blood EOS count and serum Ig E level.By statistical examination, the downward trend of various data before and after intervention in both groups was significant(P < 0.05).(2)There was no significant difference between the two groups when comparing the scores of cough symptoms after treatment(P > 0.05).(3)From the perspective of clinical syndrome of CVA: First, the scores of TCM symptoms were significantly less in the experimental group than in the control group. And the difference in that score between the two groups was significant(P < 0.05).Secondly,TCM symptoms were mainly reflected in cough, phlegm, pharyngeal itching. Now expanded the description for each syndrome. After the course of treatment, the difference were was not significant in the cough scores of the two groups(P > 0.05),no matter in the day or night. However, the results were different in pharyngeal itch and expectoration scores.Qufeng decoction group’s score was significantly lower than western medicine group(P <0.05).(4)At the level of laboratory indicators: As for peripheral blood EOS count after treatment, the reduction degree of experimental group was significantly higher than that of control group(P < 0.05).As for the effect of drugs on serum Ig E levels, there was no significant difference in Ig E values between the two groups after treatment(P > 0.05).3.Analysis of clinical efficacy in different groups: All 30 patients in the experimental group were treated with Qufeng decoction, and the overall effective rate was 90.0%.Control group also 30 patients, results showed its rate of 83.3%.The results showed that the curative effect of Chinese medicine group was better than that of western medicine group. The difference in rates between groups was significant(P < 0.05).4.Safety evaluation: In the whole process of this subject study,no drug allergy, digestive system, nervous system, immune system and other damage occurred in the tested patients in either the Chinese medicine group or the western medicine group. Conclusions: Qufeng decoction can significantly reduce the day and night cough scores. It shows that it can effectively relieve cough symptoms. It reduces phlegm and laryngeal itch scores. It shows that it can reduce the degree of phlegm and pharyngeal itch.It can reduce the count of peripheral blood EOS and Ig E.It showed that it can effectively reduce inflammatory response and regulate immune cell level. It can reduce the bronchial chronic inflammation of cough variant asthma. This can promote pain relief in people with cough variant asthma, improve discomfort in their lives, and increase happiness. Moreover,Qufeng decoction is a highly safe treatment,There have been no malignant events in the treatment of cough variant asthma. Its clinical effect is accurate, better than the control group.Qufeng decoction for the treatment of CVA is worthy of clinical application and promotion. And the results of this project once again show that traditional Chinese medicines have great advantages in the treatment of wind-cough type of CVA. |
