Objective: The purpose of this thesis is to conduct a clinical intervention and to compares the efficacy difference on these patients who have suffered lumbar disc herniation(LDH)of cold-dampness obstruction type by traditional Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy and conventional balanced cupping therapy, which provides some scientific evidence for the intervention of Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy on LDH of cold-dampness obstruction type. Methods: A total of 124 patients with LDH were selected(these patients met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the Department of Spinal Orthopedics of Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine).According to the order of admission, the patients were divided into experimental group(traditional Chinese medicine thumb cupping group)and control group(balanced cupping group)by random number table, with 62 cases in each group. On the basis of routine nursing in the hospital, the experimental group was intervened by traditional Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy. The control group was intervened by balanced cupping therapy. The intervention method is : once a day,5 consecutive days for a course of treatment,2 days between each course of treatment,a total of two courses of intervention. Then I would record the score changes and evaluate the nursing effect and safety comprehensively in low back pain score(JOA score),Oswestry dysfunction index score(ODI index score),pain visual analogue score(VAS score)and TCM syndrome score before and after intervention.Meanwhile I should record the adverse reactions of the two groups during the intervention. All data were analyzed and processed by SPSS26.0 statistical software.Results:1.The scores of these two groups after intervention are significantly higher than those before intervention(P<0.001)in total JOA score, subjective symptoms, clinical signs and daily activity dimension. And the total JOA score, subjective symptoms and clinical signs of the experimental group are better than those of the control group(P<0.001).There is no significant difference between these two groups in the daily activity dimension score and the bladder function dimension score(P>0.05).2.The ODI index scores of the two groups after intervention were significantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.001).And the experimental group was better than the control group(P<0.001).3.VAS scores of the two groups after intervention were significantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.001).And the experimental group was better than the control group(P<0.001).4.TCM syndrome scores of the two groups after intervention were significantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.001);and the experimental group was better than the control group(P<0.001).5.After intervention,6 cases are cured,21 cases are markedly effective,29 cases are effective, and the total effective rate is 91.80 % in the experimental group. In terms of the control group,4 cases are cured,11 cases are markedly effective,37 cases are effective, and the total effective rate is 85.25 %.As you can see,the total effective rate of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).6.No adverse reactions occurred in the two groups of patients during the study, and the intervention methods are highly secured.Conclusions:1.Both Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy and balanced cupping therapy can alleviate the pain symptoms of LDH patients with cold-dampness obstruction, and improve lumbar function and enhance the therapeutic effect.2.The Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy is superior to the balanced cupping therapy in improving the subjective symptoms and clinical signs of LDH patients with cold-dampness obstruction type. But the two intervention methods have similar effects in terms of improving patients’ daily activity ability and bladder function.3.There were no adverse reactions in the study of Chinese medicine thumb cupping therapy and balanced cupping therapy.According to the standardized operation process, the safety of the two intervention methods was high.
