Hong Kong Female Films And The Expression Of Female Consciousness

Female film directors have become an important part of Chinese film studies.Female directors show their unique understanding and feelings of life through their film works,create films that are different from those of male film directors,and is an unignorable part in Chinese film studies.At the same time,as an indispensable part of the studies of Chinese film,Hong Kong film also has its important significance.This paper will analyze and discuss about female films in Hong Kong from two different perspectives.Firstly,from a macro perspective,the author tries to make a close reading of the works created by female directors of Hong Kong films from the postwar period to the new century,thus connecting the development of female consciousness in the history of Hong Kong film and exploring the expression and change of female consciousness.On the other hand,the author probes into several themes of female consciousness in Hong Kong female films and examines the changes and development of female consciousness in Hong Kong films from different perspectives.The introduction part of the paper firstly defines female films and female consciousness.In addition,the paper can be divided into four parts.The former three chapters,mainly from the Angle of film history,the author will try to divide Hong Kong feminist film into three historical periods for research.The first chapter mainly discusses the absence and awakening of female consciousness in the early stages of Hong Kong film production.The second chapter focuses on analyzing the rise of feminist in the "new wave" of Hong Kong film industry.The third chapter mainly discusses the Hong Kong female films since the new century.The fourth chapter,from a theoretical perspective,discusses several topics of female consciousness expression,such as patriarchy,male violence,national identity,class,female body and sex,in order to make a more in-depth research and analysis on the expression of female consciousness in Hong Kong female films.With the change of the context over time,the expression of female consciousness is faced with more new topics.The study on the representation of female consciousness in Hong Kong female films is of great significance to the study of gender expression in Hong Kong films,and it is of great value for study in the history of Hong Kong film.
