In recent years,with the implementation of the basic education curriculum reform,the teacher-based "cramming" model has been unable to adapt to the educational requirements of the new era,and situational teaching has gradually emerged in the torrent of reform.With the rapid update and development of science and technology,the multimedia equipment in schools tends to be perfect,which provides a technical basis for situational teaching.Through long-term English teaching practice,the author found that in primary school English teaching,we should pay attention to the laws of physical and mental development of primary school students,create emotional contexts and enrich teaching situations,so as to mobilize students’ enthusiasm for learning.In order to further explore the application and effect of the Situational Teaching Method in primary school English teaching,the author conducted a one-semester situational teaching experiment in an ordinary public primary school in Qingdao.The subjects of this research are 80 fourth-grade students taught by the author and five English teachers in grades 3,4,and 5.Among them,the third class of the fourth grade is the control class,and the fourth class of the fourth grade is the experimental class.In the teaching process,the author used the traditional teaching method in the control class and the Situational Teaching Method in the experimental class.In this study,qualitative and quantitative experimental methods were used to conduct pre-test questionnaires and pre-test tests respectively before the start of the experiment,and post-test questionnaires and post-test tests were conducted after the experiment ended.This paper mainly studies the following three questions:1.What is the influence of situational teaching method on the attitude of primary school students to English learning?2.Can the application of situational teaching in English teaching in primary schools improve students’ English performance? If so,by how much?The author uses SPSS21.0 to compare and analyze the data and find that: The interest and enthusiasm of the students in the EC have been significantly improved in English learning,and their anxiety in English learning has been significantly reduced.The students in the experimental class began to look forward to the English class,and they were willing to answer questions in the English class,which improved the classroom activity.There is a significant difference in the scores of the EC before and after the test,and there is a significant difference between the EC and the CC in the post-test,which indicates that Situational Teaching Method can improve students’ English performance.Compared with the students in the control class,the students in the experimental class have significantly improved their interest and performance in English learning,which shows that the implementation of the situational teaching method in primary school English teaching is effective.Through the experiment,it is known that the Situational Teaching Method can not only improve the students’ interest and enthusiasm in English learning,but also change the learning method,and turn the students into the main body of learning and play the initiative,thereby improving academic performance.For the accuracy of the experiment,the scope of the experimental objects can be expanded in the later stage.
