Since ancient times, the problem of poverty has been troubling mankind. In this regard, people have conducted long-term exploration and reflection.Based on the social reality of his era,Marx revealed the institutional roots of proletarian poverty and pointed out the realistic path to escape poverty. The orientation of Prutung’s concern for the real society also deeply influenced Marx.Through his criticism of Prudence’s economic and philosophical thoughts,Marx contributed to a critical examination of bourgeois society and realistic economic relations,as well as a vision of the future ideal society and its realization. The profound revelation of capitalist society and its mode of production has made Marx’s poverty theory scientific and practical.Marx’s criticism of Prutung’s poverty theory, especially the research positions, methods, and theoretical framework involved in it,still has enlightenment significance for us to correctly understand and solve social and practical problems such as the excessive gap between the rich and the poor today. This article mainly discusses and attempts to solve three issues:First,it systematically sorts out and explains the poverty problem and its solutions of Prudong; The second is to examine Marx’s criticism of Prudence’s thought on poverty and the essential differences between the two ideologies; The third is to positively explain Marx’s unique theoretical contribution to the problem of poverty and its solution path, and explore its practical enlightenment value. The specifics are summarised below:The first part is mainly based on the text "The Philosophy of Poverty",which combs the explanation of poverty made by Pu Ludong, including the definition of poverty, cause analysis, the basic path out of poverty, and the characteristics of methods to solve the problem of poverty. On this basis,it further explains the connotation and methodological significance of Pluto’s relevant thoughts, laying the necessary groundwork for sorting out Marx’s criticism of Pluto based on the issue of poverty. The second part is to comb through, summarize, and explain Marx’s criticism of Proudhon’s poverty thought, mainly including:first,to explain criticism based on research perspectives, second,to explain criticism on economic theoretical perspectives, third,to criticize philosophical thinking methods, and finally,to criticize social transformation methods. These contents include Marx’s direct and indirect criticism of Prudence, with the focus on Marx’s liquidation of Prudence from the perspective of philosophical methods.Through this summary and interpretation,it shows the essential differences between Marx and Prudence in poverty and its solution. The third part is mainly a positive review and discussion of Marx’s relevant thoughts on poverty theory.Marx revealed that the social root of proletarian poverty lies in the capitalist system and its mode of production,as well as the path and goal of getting rid of poverty. That is,through the proletarian alliance to overthrow the capitalist system,to achieve a society in which the means of production are communally owned, achieve a high level of development of productive forces, and ultimately achieve the ultimate goal of free and comprehensive development of human beings to shake off poverty.
