The COVID-19 Pandemic has posed great impact on tourism, under such a background,Xiong Xiaojie,Chairman of Times Culture and Tourism Brand Consulting, gave a speech entitled "Scenic Spot:How to Turn the Corner in Post-COVID-19 Pandemic Era".This report aims to explore the difficulties and strategies during the interpretation of his speech with Skopos Theory as its guidance. The Skopos theory claims that a translation activity is determined by its skopos, namely, purpose, which stresses the subjective initiatives of interpreters, allowing them to adopt different strategies according to the purpose.According to this theory, strategies or skills should be flexibly employed in the interpreting based on three principles, including skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule.During the simulated consecutive interpreting process of Xiong’s speech, under the guidance of three principles, the author adopts appropriate interpreting strategies for case analysis, besides, after the task is finished, some reflections and conclusions are given in the latter part of this report. The difficulties of this task mainly lie in expressions with Chinese characteristics, ambiguous logic, semantic redundancy and information-intensive chunks.Correspondingly, the solutions proposed for tackling the difficulties mentioned above include paraphrasing, logic explicitation, omission and simplification, aiming to maximize the faithful and fluent effect. The author hopes that this report can be somewhat helpful for similar text-based interpreting practice in the future.
