Thailand is the country with the largest number of volunteer Chinese teachers.The teaching strategies adopted by volunteer Chinese teachers in Thailand are different from those in China.Therefore,many scholars pay high attention to Chinese language teaching in Thailand.Besides,the teaching system of international schools is different from that of other primary or secondary schools in Thailand.Taking Chinese learners from St.Stephen’s International School in Nakhon Ratchasima,Thailand as the research object,by using observation and survey methods to study current situation of Chinese teaching in St.Stephen’s International School.Although involving the teaching management,teaching content,teaching mode and teacher-student relationship and other aspects,the research objects are pertinent.This article is divided into five parts: 1.Introduction.Indicate the purpose of the research in this article,explain the significance of the research,review the research progress of Chinese teaching at home and abroad,review the research progress of Chinese teaching in Thai international schools,and propose research methods.2.Overview of St.Stephen’s International School.Introduce the school’s philosophy and curriculum;Besides,focus on the basic overview of Chinese teaching,including Mandarin curriculum,teaching materials and syllabus,the team of Chinese teachers,the assignments and test formats.3.Investigation on the status quo of Chinese teaching.In order to in-depth study of St.Stephen’s Chinese teaching,a survey of Chinese language learners in this school is conducted.This section explains the purpose and process of the survey,focusing on statistics and analysis of the survey results.4.The shortcomings in Chinese teaching in St.Stephen’s International School.According to the survey results in the third part,summarize the shortcomings in the school’s Chinese teaching from the following four aspects: teaching management,teaching content,teaching mode and teacher-student relationship,and analyze the reasons for the shortcomings.5.Aiming at the shortcomings of Chinese teaching in Stephen’s International School,we propose strategies to improve Chinese language teacher volunteers from the following four aspects: pre-teaching preparations,enriching teaching content,perfecting the teaching mode,and how to handle relationships between teachers and students.In summary,this article clarifies the research object,introduces the basic situation of Chinese teaching in St.Stephen’s International School,puts forward the shortcomings of Chinese teaching in this school,and analyzes the reasons.On this basis,some suggestions are made for the work of volunteer Chinese teachers.Improve strategies and provide suggestions for volunteers who will teach Chinese in the school in the future.
