Since 2007,when Japanese scholar Shoji Nada introduced the concept of "private documentary",private documentary has gradually come into the public eye as a new genre of documentary.By focusing the camera on the private space of the family, private documentaries use the emotional experiences and expressions of individuals to cause viewers to think about family, kinship, life and even life, playing a unique function of self-healing,catharsis and redemption, and building a space of discourse between the individual and the collective. In recent years,as filming equipment has been updated and portable DVs and microsofts have entered millions of households, documentaries have moved away from being created by institutional, authoritative television stations or professional directors from the academy to an art form that everyone can participate in,create and share. In fact, the concept of private documentary has been around for a long time. With the successful release of Four Springs, private documentaries have begun to attract the attention of more and more scholars, but the concept and connotation of private documentaries have been subject to divergent opinions, and it has been difficult to form an effective unification. This article examines private documentaries and explains the work"No Place to Go".The first chapter summarises the concept of private documentary in the context of the history of documentary development, and sorts out the development of private documentary, while at the same time discussing "independent documentary","first-person documentary"and "first-person documentary",which are often confused with the concept of private documentary."The second chapter examines the characteristics of private documentaries from the perspectives of narrative, creative subjects and realistic concerns, and affirms the artistic value of private documentaries. The third chapter proposes a strategy of"visibility" for private documentaries in the current social, technological and media contexts, and proposes a solution to the problem of private documentaries not being seen or accepted by the public through the study of content, form and means of dissemination,in order to guide the practice of private documentary creation;the fourth chapter discusses the dilemma of private documentary creation and development from the perspectives of ethics, subject consciousness, production and dissemination The concluding section provides a dialectical analysis and summary of private documentary creation and research, and the value and significance of private documentary films.
