In realistic oil painting, color is one of the essential elements to express visual communication, and Lucian Freud has an excellent ability to control color. In the painting, his use of color is bold and enthusiastic, but full of implicit and introverted, accurately depicting the solid color of human skin, and using the color of life to convey a true and realistic feeling. The color characteristics of his paintings are very stable, showing a simple and dignified taste. This pure color has great power, which is also the most moving point in his works.Lucian Freud’s paintings are mostly portrait based, and the use of large areas of gray often creates a frightening and bizarre atmosphere in his works. He focuses more on human nature and uses a realistic artistic style to express the images. His paintings convey a certain suppressed and repressed emotion through subtle changes in color and brush strokes, touching the hearts of viewers. The continuous exploration of Lucian Freud’s single portrait oil painting is of great benefit to the formation of his own artistic form language. The "Introspection" series of portrait oil paintings mainly draws inspiration from Freud’s oil paintings in terms of color, composition, and brushwork, depicting three peers with typical characteristics. The paintings strive to demonstrate the authenticity and inner spirituality of the characters through the treatment of color tone and the depiction of the characters’ eyes.In addition to the introduction, this article is mainly divided into five chapters: The first chapter expounds the uniqueness of color in Lucian Freud’s oil paintings from the perspective of the presentation of gray images, the use of life colors, and the treatment of skin color fixation; The second chapter discusses the differences between the innovative color of Lucian Freud’s oil paintings and other painters in terms of structural modeling and emotional expression; The third chapter is about the influence of Freud’s oil painting on the search for personal painting language in terms of realism and spirituality; The fourth chapter is the focus of the article, discussing the inspiration of Freud’s oil painting color to personal graduation creation; The final chapter is a summary, hoping that through this creation, more people can understand and derive inspiration from the painting colors of this artistic master.
