With the continuous advancement and in-depth development of "the Belt and Road"Initiative,Chinese construction engineering enterprises have gradually gone abroad. They helped the countries of the Third World build all kinds of infrastructure and actively participated in overseas engineering projects. As the cooperation between the countries in the field of engineering technology is gradually deepening, translation work plays a more important role. The translation practice in the report involves the selection of Specifications for Large and Middle-Scale River Crossing Works as the source text and the C-E translation practice combined with CAT software——Trados. The original text belongs to scientific and technological text, which contains a large number of technical terms and the content is difficult to understand. The translated text is required to accurately and objectively convey information to target language readers.Th is practice report is guided by Eugene Nida’s F unctional Equivalence Theory, which aims to reproduce the original information with the closest and natural equivalent so that the target readers can adequately understand the information conveyed by the original texts. Thus, the theory plays an important guiding role in the translation of engineering technology texts. This report firstly introduces the background and requirements of translation and then carefully introduces entire translation process.Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator combines the linguistic characteristics of source text and translation requirements to analyze the specific cases and then tries to find out proper translation strategies from lexical, syntactic and textual levels. At the lexical level,it mainly includes the translation of technical terms and verbs; At the syntactic level, the translation strategies of non-subject sentences, the transformation of active voice to passive voice and long and difficult sentences are discussed; At the textual level, appropriate cohesion and coherence devices are adopted to achieve textual equivalence. This translation practice shows that functional equivalence theory can play a guiding role in the translation of engineering technology texts. The theory provides theoretical support and methodological guidance for the translation of river crossing construction project. What’s more,it also provides a further reference for future practice report in related fields.
