Diachronic Evolution Of "Carving" Verbs In Chinese

As the central content of the history of Chinese vocabulary,a large number of cases are worthy of the further study.The verb “Carving” is an important subclass of Chinese commonly used verbs,and it is significant to investigate its systematic investigation into the evolution of Chinese vocabulary.This paper uses semantic field theory,adopts the research methods of synchronic diachronic,quantitative and qualitative,combination of description and interpretation,and divides the three stages of Chinese history into ancient,middle and modern times,selects the typical literature use cases of each stage,and on this basis,describes and calculates the usage of each member of the verb “Carving” class.This paper reveals the evolution and development process of semantic field of Chinese verb “Carving” from ancient times to modern times,summarizes the characteristics of the evolution process,and clarifies the motivation of the evolution and development.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part,the introduction.This paper mainly introduces the research status,research purpose and methods,research significance and innovation,and defines and explains related concepts,including the concept and scope of “Carving” verbs,Chinese historical stages and literature selection.The second part,from the perspective of semantic field as a whole,examines the composition of the semantic field members of the verb “Carving” in different periods,describes its font meaning,use frequency,use scope,syntactic function and combination ability,and makes statistics and analysis of the overall use of the verb“Carving” in each period.The third part,from the perspective of individual lexical members,examines the evolution process of each member of the semantic field of “Carving” verbs,including the use and extinction of the old words,the generation and use of the new words,the inheritance and development of the old words,and sorts out the growth and decline of each member of “Carving” verbs in the diachronal evolution.The fourth part,analyzes the diachronic characteristics and reasons of the diachronic evolution of the verb “Carving” in combination with the synchronic and diachronic aspects.The fifth part is the conclusion.Summarize the main points of the paper and point out the shortcomings.The diachronic dynamic research cannot be separated from the description and analysis of synchronic,synchronic investigation is the foundation,and the diachronic evolution is carried out on this basis.The combination of the two is conducive to the presentation of the evolution and development of the verb members of “Carving” in different periods,the display of the replacement process of the new and old members of the semantic field,and the summary of the characteristics and motivations of the evolution of this semantic field.Thus,it makes a modest contribution to the research on the history of Chinese common verb vocabulary.
