On The Characterization Of She Taijun,A Female Master Of Yangmen In Peking Opera

The Peking Opera "Yangmen Nvjiang" was created by Fan Junhong and Lu Ruiming based on the Yang opera "Baisui Guashuai",which was first performed successfully in 1959 and has continued to be well-received and performed on the opera stage since then.Mr.Fan Junhong,as the main character of the play,focused on the creation of the role of She Taigun,a veteran of the opera,and was involved in the creation of her singing voice,narration and body parts by Mr.Wang Jinghua of the Chinese Peking Opera.This project takes the character of She Taijun in the Peking Opera "Yangmen Nvjiang" as the object of study.Firstly,we investigate the evolution of She Taijun’s image as the starting point,from history,to fiction,to the opera stage,to explore the origin of She Taijun’s image,and the image of She Taijun in different vehicles.Secondly,we analyze the characterization of She Taijun in the Peking opera Yang Men Women,focusing on the "Hall of Longevity," "Hall of the Spirit," and "Camp Patrol" as examples.The study combines the artistic techniques used in opera performance to portray the character,and explores how the characterization of She Taijun is accomplished through the use of singing,narration and stance.Through the study of the characterization of She Taijun in the Peking Opera "Yangmen Nvjiang",we hope to analyze and summarize the issues of characterization of opera actors on stage by artistic means,in order to contribute to the study of opera performance in China.
