Peer counseling refers to the process of helping peers or friends with psychological problems by using the theoretical knowledge and skills learned after professional training and relevant examinations.Peer counseling has the advantages of easy access, convenience, timeliness and wide range. It is an important supplement to school psychological work.In recent years,it has been used in more and more primary and secondary schools. At present, the research on peer counseling for secondary vocational students mostly focuses on the existing working environment to carry out peer counseling, and mostly takes the counseling effect of individual counseling or the rich diversity of school activities as the basis to prove the effectiveness of peer counseling, with the subjectivity of the researchers themselves and the lack of data support. Therefore, this study will explore the effectiveness of the peer counselor training model and the effectiveness of students’ peer counseling work after the training through an experimental study, and provide a quantifiable and more scientific basis. At the same time,in order to create a peer counselor training model suitable for secondary vocational education, this study introduces the outcome-based education concept, and according to the reverse design principle, from the ability that peer counselors need to master in their actual work as the starting point, understand the current situation of peer counselor training needs and ability level, and then determine the specific training objectives and programs. In Study 1,in combination with Hu Wenjing’s ability requirements of nine dimensions, including interpersonal skills, observation skills, positive attention skills,self-regulation skills, listening skills, empathy skills, analysis skills, recognition skills and professional knowledge mastery, peer counselor training needs questionnaire was set up to investigate the subjective training needs of peer counselors, and a training model was initially constructed,Design training content. In the second study, the instructor conducted peer counselor training for students, and the effect was evaluated by experiment and questionnaire. In Study 3,peer counselors participated in the counseling practice.Through the experimental method and questionnaire method, the mental health level differences between the experimental class and the control class were compared. The results are as follows:(1)The results of the training needs questionnaire show that peer counselors have higher subjective needs for all dimensions of counseling ability, and the top five abilities they need most are professional knowledge mastery,self-regulation ability, analysis ability, interpersonal communication ability and positive attention ability.(2)After the investigation of the current situation of peer psychological counseling ability,it is found that the "mastery of professional knowledge" is relatively weak, and the "listening ability" and "analysis ability" also need to be improved. After mental health diagnosis,it was found that secondary vocational students scored the highest in "learning anxiety","allergic tendency" and "physical symptoms".(3)After the implementation of training, the improvement of peer counseling ability of peer counselors in secondary vocational school by the peer counselor training mode is significantly higher than that of the control group, indicating that the training mode is feasible and effective.(4)After students’ peer counselors participate in the practice, the improvement of students’ mental health level in the experimental class is significantly higher than that in the control class, which shows that the thinking of peer counselor training to improve the mental health level of secondary vocational students can be applied to practice.
