Research On The Portrayal Of The Elderly In Elderly Documentaries

China is one of the countries with the most aging population in the world,and the proportion of the elderly population is increasing.However,the survival status of the elderly group has not received widespread attention from the society.As a special video recording method,documentaries can truly restore social life and reflect real problems.Therefore,it is of great value and significance for the documentary to focus on the elderly for caring for the elderly.However,judging from the existing documentaries on the theme of the elderly,their market share is small,the image is single,and the works lack innovation.Therefore,based on the current development status of documentaries on the subject of old age,this article analyzes the narrative strategy and language expression of documentaries on the subject of old age from the perspective of the creator,and explores how to create a real and typical image of old age.The introduction analyzes the research background and significance of documentaries on the elderly,combs and summarizes the relevant literature,and explains the research methods,innovations and theoretical basis of this paper.The text will be discussed in five chapters.The first chapter is an overview of the documentary on the elderly and the image of the elderly.Based on the previous literature,this chapter defines the concept of documentaries on the elderly;From the perspective of historical development,this paper vertically combs the three periods of old-age Documentary: exploration period,development period and maturity period;According to the creation status of documentaries on the elderly,this paper analyzes the role of narrative strategies and audio-visual language in shaping the image of the elderly,and summarizes the main characteristics of the image of the elderly.The second chapter is the narrative presentation of the image of the elderly.In the process of shaping the image of the elderly,it is necessary to construct a bridge between characters and events through narrative,so as to highlight the characteristics of the characters.This chapter discusses the role of contradictions,suspense and plot in narrative skills in shaping the characters,and explores how to use the narrative perspective and narrative space to deeply construct and fully demonstrate the image of the elderly.The third chapter is the image language expression of the image of old age.Image language carries a specific expressive function.Through the construction of audio-visual elements,the image of the elderly can not only be presented more intuitively and vividly,but also express emotions.This chapter introduces how to use the lens language of delicate and slow long shots,close-ups to capture details,and empty shots that metaphor the fate of the characters to present the images of old age;it introduces how to express the spiritual world and inner emotions of the characters through dialogues,interviews and music;In the process of creating documentaries on the theme of the elderly,the editing skills play the finishing touch in the shaping of characters.The fourth chapter is the value meaning of the image of the old age.A worthwhile documentary should reveal key social issues with a real and profound nature,focus on key social groups from a sharp perspective,and address the current disadvantages in an artistic way.This chapter analyzes the artistic value,social value and literature value of shaping the image of the elderly from three aspects: the artistic presentation under the documentary lens,the real portrayal of social problems and the preservation of the elderly image.The fifth chapter is the summary and reflection of personal creation.Based on the theoretical exploration and analysis of how to shape the image of the elderly,use the learned theory and practical experience to create a documentary on the theme of the elderly,and summarize and think about the problems encountered in the process of creation.In short,to create a typical image of the elderly requires a comprehensive application of film and television theory and documentary film creation theory.Through the research of this article,I hope to provide some suggestions and inspirations for creating a richer and more diverse image of the elderly,and attract more artistic creators to pay attention to and think about documentaries about the elderly.
