A Report On The Chinese Translation Of The Power Of Personal Change (Excerpts)

This thesis is a translation practice report of the first and eighth chapters of The Power of Personal Change,an inspirational book commissioned by Fiberead Technology and Culture(Beijing)Co.The goal of this report is to explore the challenges and issues that emerge throughout the translation process,as well as communicative translation methods that help ensure that the translation is smooth and easy to understand and reproduce the motivational effect of the original text.The report is divided into four sections.The first chapter provides background information on the translation task and its importance as well as the structure of this report.The second part delves into the entire process of translation work,from start to finish.The third chapter discusses several translation strategies under the guidance of communicative translation theory to produce a smooth and understandable translation that reproduces the appealing effect and communicative purpose of the inspirational text,using typical translation examples.To fill linguistic and cultural gaps,the translator uses translation strategies such as addition,deletion,conversion,and adjustment,as well as adjusting the translation in terms of semantics,theme,and contextual relevance,and making the reader feel as if they are reading the original text as much as possible by reproducing the wording,sentence style,and rhetorical features.The translator outlines the gains and reflections of this translation approach in Chapter 4.It is envisaged that,as a result of this translation practice and research,communicative translation theory will be used to drive the translation research of inspiring writings.
