A Comparative Study Of Vowels In Dialects Of Monguor Language

Monguor language falls within Mongolian languages under the Altaic language family.Monguor language can be divided into the Huzhu dialect and the Minhe dialect,the former being the basic dialect.Previous research on the Monguor language was mostly focused on the Huzhu dialect.Few systematic comparative studies have been done on the Huzhu dialect and Minhe dialect.Therefore,in this paper,the vowels in the Huzhu dialect are compared systematically with those in the Minhe dialect through field investigation,description and comparison to find out the correspondence law of vowels in the two dialects and reveal the evolution law and characteristics of vowels in Monguor language.This research is of great theoretical and practical significance to the comparative study of the Monguor language and exploration of the law of phonetic evolution.It is also of important academic and application value for the historical phonetic research of Mongolian languages and the Altaic family.This paper consists of the introduction,chapter 1,chapter 2,chapter 3conclusion and other parts.The introduction part is the overview of the Monguor people and language,the research status,the purpose and significance of the topic,research methods,the source of data,etc.Chapter 1 is a describe of short vowels,long vowels and compound vowels in the Huzhu dialect and Minhe dialect.Chapter 2 is the comparison between the vowels in the Huzhu dialect and Minhe dialect based on Mongolian written language and finds the vowel correspondence of the two dialects.The paper also makes a comparative study of linguistic phenomena such as vowel harmony,types of syllable structure,word stress and vowel reduction in the two dialects.Chapter 3 summarizes the evolution law and characteristics of short vowels,long vowels and compound vowels in the Huzhu dialect and Minhe dialect in the Monguor language.The conclusion part sums up the main content of this paper.
